Does anybody have an idea about the above? Sorry I know I am being a pain but teachers are getting on my case now... How good of them!

Can HAP access shares on different servers? Sorry, let me explain. I have HAP setup on sr1 and have shares on this server that can be accessed through HAP quite happily. I have added a shortcut to a share on another server but HAP cannot see the shortcut. I have used DFS to route a folder to another server but HAP gives me a "Network location cannot be accessed" error. Any advice greatly appreciated :-)

Which firewall for beginners
gl3nnym replied to rtyhgn85's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
As long as you have a standard router for your broadband then Windows firewall should be just fine. -
Well done and congratulations! I have been trying to move to non-educational too but alas, no luck so far.

Wow. It's quite shocking how big this "industry" is. I honestly didn't think one site could be so popular... Certainly opens my eyes to online safety!

I had this yesterday where some paper got stuck in the fuser unit (Brother mono). Turns out it actually did burn the paper which was a nice brown colour when I finally fished it out. Managed to also burn my finger in the process... It's a dangerous job!!

About 3 years ago I did a 5 day VMware VIC3 course at Old Street in London. It cost around £2k and it was a massive help. Learnt loads and glad I did it!

Eradicating the Staff Shared Drive
gl3nnym replied to powdarrmonkey's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We have an RM network and make use of department groups for example Art and PE. Staff in these groups have access to certain folders on the shared drive and cannot access other department folders. Maybe something like this: Art Teachers -> Art Folder PE Teachers -> PE Folder The staff are then restricted using NTFS permissions as to which folders they can and cannot access. -
Business (and IT).Office.Frontline.Helpdesk?

The laptop will be fine to use as long as you keep it plugged in. After a few years batteries tend to loose efficiency.

Congratulations! 5 years is a long time, bet you're both over the moon!

Compromised Websites - Anyone else affected yet?
gl3nnym replied to tech_guy's topic in General Chat
We had this after 3 users visited the Easyjet website. Safe mode and Malwarebytes fixed the issue but it seems to be spreading like wildfire. -

Ford. Never had a problem with them. Nothing worth worrying about anyway.

I am going with the keyboard being the other way around.

Will Google Desktop be any good? I know it doesn't have bells and whistles but it can search your docs easily enough.

We are still XP on CC3... No need to worry there just yet then. Although when support for that stops...
