K.C.Leblanc Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 What's the difference between the BNP and a bus? a bus has more seats. 2
Mcshammer_dj Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 What's the difference between the BNP and a bus? a bus has more seats. That could work for a bike
nicholab Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 The main reason people voted BNP is due to what Nick Griffin said about radical Muslims.
tech_guy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Hijacking the thread a bit (although it's ruddy great to see the BNP so much out of pocket - hope it bankrupts them!) - we had an independent candidate stand in our constituency - a really nice bloke who seemed to be genuinely wanting to work for the people - but he lost his deposit. We had a whip round in the pub at the weekend and it looks like he'll have his fee covered soon!
fafster Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 (although it's ruddy great to see the BNP so much out of pocket - hope it bankrupts them!) With the backing of the guy who owns overclockers.co.uk, I can't see it. Unfortunately.

tech_guy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Don't tell me that Overclockers muppet is financing the BNP?!
fafster Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Don't tell me that Overclockers muppet is financing the BNP?! Pretty much. Do a quick google.
tech_guy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I have - well I didn't like the company in the first place - they cocked up a big memory order for us last year and then systematically lied to us when we chased it up.
teejay Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 The scary thing is that under a full PR voting system, BNP would now have 12 seats in parliament :-0
Little-Miss Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 With the backing of the guy who owns overclockers.co.uk, I can't see it. Unfortunately. Well i never!! Certainly wont be using them anytime soon! 1
localzuk Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 The scary thing is that under a full PR voting system, BNP would now have 12 seats in parliament :-0 Yup. But they'd be a tiny voice in that system. In any PR system there would need to be some form of controls in place to prevent what happened to bring the Nazi party to power in Germany. The thing is, if they got their seats, people'd see what they were really like, so they would likely have a big drop the next election time.
witch Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Germany and many other countries have Proportional Representation so I think there must be some sort of controls in place of the sort you mention

teejay Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Hi teejay can you point me to your source as I need it for an article I'm writing!? Many thanks. Just dump figures from the into a spreadsheet from BBC NEWS | Election 2010 | Results | United Kingdom - National Results and turn the precentage of the votes for each party into no of seats. 1
teejay Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I really don't want to derail this thread into a PR/FPTP debate as the OP was on a different topic. If people want that discussion I think we should start another thread.
witch Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Sorry - didnt mean to - I was just trying to point out that countries who have more reason to be afraid of the ultra-right wing (BNP etc) do cope OK with PR and so perhaps that having them in parliament isnt necessarily the scary thing we think it might be.
LiamH Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Would like to think the queen would step in and exercise her mainly ceremonial but still legal ability to tell them to **** off if they ever got power...
creese Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Would like to think the queen would step in and exercise her mainly ceremonial but still legal ability to tell them to **** off if they ever got power... Why? Because they would make Phil look like a liberal?
CHR1S Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Cant belive overclockers back the BNP, thats bad! I used them alot too
