Yeayh - that's along the lines I was thinking of for the PSU - budgets gone up, but Dan's right. And it'll be searingly quick!

I'd suggest the corsair range of PSU's, something in a 550 / 600 watt flavour would be ideal. Case is down to personal preference, I'm awaiting delivery of a Coolermaster CM690 II today, best I could find in the sub-£100 range. RwD

I'd suggest that more RAM would be an improvement over a scratch disk, especially if a raided disk set is being used anyway. I may be wrong though, and I'd say Lightroom is a deffinate RAM over HDD.

And the boards will drastically increase in cost!

I know this is ressurecting an old post - but the thread linked earlier provided us with our fix, so I thought I'd post up some advice... We had the memory issue, printer constantly freezing etc. Take the formatter out, and desolder all the capacitors (mark them up so you know which way round they go back on and what goes where, desolder the battery at this point too. Stick it in an electric (gas is too uneven) oven at 180C for 8 minutes, making sure it's chip side up, and that it's supported at the corners off the base of the oven (tin foil balls work well for this). Take it out to cool, resolder componants, and test. From the long thread I reckon there's an 85% success rate at least, provided the Caps are removed, ours worked perfectly afterwards. I'd be tempted to go down the Intel route for a bit more grunt... i5 - 750 Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Then throw as much ram as possible. Personally I wouldn't bother with raid for reduncancy, but feel free to use it for speed, I'd just backup to a different phsyical disc. RwD

Yeah - if you mean that sort, any camera will do as long as you get enough resolution, and it's the software that decodes it. Interestingly on the best types, you can destroy around 50% of the barcode and still have it read perfectly...

The reg for devlopments, and bit-tech.net for the hardware side of things (more enthusiastic oriented) but it still helps...
