A valid point - but the prohibitive costs of 'safer' (ie, more features and newer) means that most young drivers end up in something that's a bit lacking in terms of crumple zones. My first car only just came with a steering wheel! One point I would make is - if you buy a cheap car, put some decent tyres on it. My old Punto, minus ABS, would corner, grip, and stop far better than any of my friends 'safer' cars, simply because it had expensive rubber, and they had cheap stuff. One of the few things you can do to a car without having to tell your insurers too!

First at lights, long wait = handbrake... went out the window when i got my first car and it wouldn't mesh into first unless you were at a standstill... Block shifting - 1,2,3, 6th onto a motorway if I'm pushing it, normally flick through 4th and 5th though. I'm down to £1200 for my current car, not bad for a 200bhp estate at 22... that's with an allowance of 18k miles a year too, and commuter use. RwD

Yup - anything to do with the OS and you'll get a bios... Reseat grfx cards. If that doesn't work, unplug stuff from the board and run in with the bare minimum. If that doesn't, yank some ram out, the board should boot and beep are you, if it gets this far it's probably the graphics. If no beeps - it might be the board instead RwD

You're looking at a smidge over £1000 (usually) for a decent hopper feed printer. did some research into this a while ago, but nothing came of it. Had an incredibly helpful bloke over from SecuritWorld to give us a demo - was suitably impressed (their software is damned good too) but sadly we never aparently bought one... RwD

Win 7, Office as said. Everything else you can find free versions for pretty much! Unless you do any design work for work (think that makes sense) in which case ask for a copy of whatever you use for that too!

Wow - my apologies if that came accross as a personal attack... I was addressing it in the context of this thread - I agree entirely with threaded cpus not quite being up to multicore cpus, however the i3-330m is a dual core chip, with 2 threads per core, so will be inherently faster than the older tech Dual core pentium, which was a model level below even the Core2Duo. You're also looking at triple the cache on the i3. Again this may come off as an opinion of your opinion - but I struggle to see what else a forum is for other than trying to offer the OP as much information as possible from varying points of view. If I hadn't addressed the point you'd made - I wouldn't have been able to justify the point I was trying to make in saying that the i3 is a better CPU. (Which I can go and grab benchmarks for if you require) RwD

Depends what they're doing... If any gaming is involved then go for 2 (graphics based) If not - they'll see much better multitasking from Model 1. Hard drive wise - they're the same spindle speed, with the 320 being slightly denser (assuming the 500 is more platters) so the 320 will probably technically run slightly faster seek times, but not to a noticable degree. Feel free to correct me on my hard drive knowledge... ICTSM - the dual core CPU might be good, but compared to the i3 in model one (quad thread) it's at a disadvantage in this comparisson

On the mistranslation aspect of this - I'm sure somewhere that the Red Sea was actually ment to be the Reed Sea - which would be a lot easier to part when you think about it. Also - science will always try and prove itself wrong. No scienctist worth their salt would come up with a theory, announce it, and have done with it, with all their peers going "ooo yeah, look, he's right'. They try constantly to disprove what they're saying, I've rarely heard that tried with religion.

And there's good evidence that religion in its early days improved a groups chance of natural selection as it bonded the group and gave them a leader - an organised tribe woudl be much more likely to win any fights it found itself part of, and therefore control more land, thus becoming more powerful, with more followers... These days - probably not so important in most 'civilised' places in the world. RwD

Have to say personally I'd love to hear / read some compelling evidence for intelligent design (either by pm or whichever) chapter and verse I'm marginally less interested as anyone can write anything down.... As for how we percieve things - it's a similar arguement to the "we need religion to be moral" there are many imoral things mentioned in many religious texts - if we didn't inherrently know which were 'good' and 'bad' without religion, surely we would have no way of deciding which parts of the holy books/texts/scripts to follow? How about getting some speakon sockets(a) and putting them on the side of the cabinet, with tails into the cabinet, put another set of sockets(b) facing into the cabinet with tails that go to your wall sockets, cable from your amp to speakon socket(b) for your use, when you leave, plug in the tails from (a) in instead... external people come in, plug in to the side of the cabinet through sockets(a), no switching needed (just make sure the ones on the wall already are glued in or boxed over or something to people don't get confused?) Cheap solution RwD
