Happy SysAdmin Day! How are you celebrating your SysAdmin heroes?
RSoP_Robbers replied to Spiceworks's topic in Windows
Well, I have been offsite today to collect some new IT kit which I didn't think I'd get so plugged it into Spiceworks to add everything to the asset register. I've got the dog to walk and a bottle of wine for later for a successful first week of a mahoosive overhaul! P.S - Loving the V5.0 Beta!- 4 replies

LMAO! That is ace! :-D It looked a little like Friendface from IT Crowd as it was loading lol I've never been to any abroad but I've been to some of the gaming shows at Excel in London and the MCM Expo in May (VERY good). I met quite a few cool people there but sadly missed Leslie Neilson! DOH! That would have made my day! :-D Yeah they are great for meeting people with similar interests. You just have to watch for extreme views and different levels of interest as I discovered with the group of people near me arguing lol

Well, I wont be seeing much sunshine this summer as I'm (queue Bruce Willis "How can the same ...... happen to the same guy twice?) again doing a major ICT overhaul. This week, I've shifted 4 ICT rooms, re-imaged most of the kit and drawn on walls :-D I've just got around 20 IWB's to see to, two new ICT suites to see built, a wireless solution to put in place, new e-mail system, aid with VLE updates / integration and re-design and then, the usual new student accounts. It's seriously sad but after my pants for 3 hours, I'm seriously loving it...... and the random collection of music on my iPod. This week has seen an 80's revival and it's been top banana! So, I know I'm not alone so I would like to extend a big well done to the rest of you chaps and chappettes for your efforts so far and wish you all the best. I thought it would be good to see how everyone is getting on as well and possibly share some motivational music dedications. Carry on troops! :-)

I had some appreciation from my boss and it was quite a touching moment! LOL!

Yeah tell me about it! I've partially adopted a site manager roll this summer on top of everything else... *slaps head* so my holiday is on hold. But saying that, I'm certainly getting away! Similar boat here but I've decided to go camping around Cornwall, go diving and the like. It's relaxing and gets me out of the way of IT. Phones still work IF you want them to so you've always got access to FaceEduGeekBook. But I suppose it also gets you used to exploring, finding stuff to do at your own pace, more importantly RELAX but depending where you stay, some camp sites or resorts can be quite "community based" so you can have a natter with the people around you and do stuff together. ....Or you can just get absolutely drunk in your tent and scare people! LOL Its a good way to get started. (Not the scaring people - you tend to get booted off of the site).

NO! Seriously! Some of them are worth watching just for Douglas! Matt Berry is just hilarious! :-D Check these out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE_1Y9JabB4 These get a little ruder! LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02MHIU9UhLg

Thanks guys! Yes, I'm very sorry for the confusion! There is a bit of a political background to this as mentioned so I can say very little. SIMS is not normally my responsibility so I have had to go away for a weekend and do a crash course on the in's and out's of the app so again, I'm sorry to be unprofessional with my troubleshooting here! I'll make it up to you all - promise! I will have a look at the error output and see what that gives. I've had a look around the Excel settings and all appears to be in order such as macro setttings etc but I will double check all the same. @ Sarconia - We are running the full version of Squirrel so will give that a try! Again - sorry guys! With regard to printers, we have even tried the Microsoft XPS writer! I am informed that it has previously worked but I intend to check the creation date of the marksheet all the same.

Hi everyone! Thank you soo much for your flurry of replies! I am so sorry that I did not reply again yesterday afternoon - I had to fly to hospital - family matters..... So to update now I have a clearer mind: (ish) Yes that sums up my SIG! There are 3 "reports" that are having this issue however, 1 will actually run on another computer with the same username. I am attempting to verify this however. I am sorry for the confusion that I may have caused here: The fault occurs by going Focus -> Assessment -> Mark Sheet Entry. User selects custom created report. Double clicks on report to view it. User clicks Print User clicks Print Preview. Excel begins to load and said error is produced. There is a lot of politics surrounding this "issue" so it's like pulling teeth. :-( Thanks again for everyone's help and comments!

Hi vikpaw The report is restricted to this specific user in question however available on any machine that they log into on SIMS. I meant "Print Preview" the report as in click print preview, the report then exports into the appropriate office app (Excel in this case) and then goes into Print Preview mode. Sorry that I was a little confuddled. This has been a pain in the lower endpoint! The report will export and then print however that is unsatisfactory for the user.

When a user tries to print preview a report, SIMS is crashing out and producing a 2144-6090-5900 error code. I have wiped the machine, installed Office 2003 manually, all updates etc, cleared user's Windows logon profile.... Any suggestions? Macro settings are also on Medium.

Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 Remote Agent for Windows
RSoP_Robbers replied to RSoP_Robbers's topic in Licensing Questions
Thats right cookie_monster. I installed a few desktop / laptop licenses post installation by going to Tools --> Licences etc. I'm trying to get my head around buying 2010 but downgrading - do I need to buy 2010 Server AND Remote Agent or can I just buy the Remote Agent and install that in the 12.5 licence pool ( Tools --> Licenses etc). Why is licencing such a mine field? -
Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 Remote Agent for Windows
RSoP_Robbers replied to RSoP_Robbers's topic in Licensing Questions
@KeithMPhoenix: How do I procede with that? Do I simply purchase the Remote Agent for 2010 and add the key to the 12.5 pool or do I have to purchase 2010 completely? Problem is, we've upgraded our tape library but there are some issues between the library, the drivers and 2010 backup exec.... -Slaps Head- @cookie_monster: We have a Backup Exec 12.5 server license which we ordered with a Dell server and that also includes 20 Windows desktop / laptop backup licenses... I have tried using one to backup the remote servers however tells me that I'm annoying and that I need to get a remote agent for Windows. -
Sophos Library Issues

Oh you're quite close then! Brilliant! That sounds the best way - I'm still trying to pull a store to our webserver but the other end had firewall issues. Keep me posted and I will post back if I find anything or if I can get a working store up.
