rad Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 So how many staff are not in on day 1? We currently have 20 out, and they are considering not running year 7 or 8 classes this week
localzuk Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 5 out here, 4 of which are teachers - out of about 35 teachers total.
Andycat Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 12 teaching, 5 support here I think. 3 Senior Management.
Hightower Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 1 assistant head, 1 cover supervisor, and 1 teacher - not too bad compared to others looking at it.
featured_spectre Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 2 here...1 stuck in Turkey, 1 stuck in St Kitts
glennda Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) 10 in total here not sure the split between teaching and non teaching but one of the stuck teachers is with a load of students in germany! The head is stuck in china with a return flight date of 4th may! Edited April 19, 2010 by glennda
Little-Miss Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 5! That's 1 assistant head (my LM), HLTA and 3 teachers! First 2 may not be back till next week...
witch Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Deputy Head (Jamaica), Head of Science (India), Head of French (Australia) as well as site manager (Egypt), and about 4 other staff
tech_guy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 We have a full contingent and they're all doing my head in as usual!
sidewinder Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 11 off here I think, though a few are in mainland Europe so could well be home via ferry/eurostar tomorrow
CyberNerd Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 12 teachers out (12%) "stuck" on holiday. No-one on support staff seems to be paid enough for multiple forign holidays per year.
pauljonze Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 No-one on support staff seems to be paid enough for multiple forign holidays per year. Precisely... it's a joke, could go on and on but beginning to sound jealous. Shame some of them will manage to get back too.
Theblacksheep Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Head and about 10 teachers here. Plus about 10 kids in the US on a trip. The least of my worries, the production SAN threw both PSUs, a disk and a MMC card on Friday and replacement parts were actually in the country.
rad Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 We have some teachers in New York, Italy, India and the chef in Jamaica, the 20 teachers excludes non teaching staff. Unsure but probably only 5 support staff out.
korifugi Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I was considering being 'Stuck' on holiday... Thought management wouldn't take too kindly to my not being able to make it back from Skegness though.

You could argue that there are potential unknown health risks due to the ash filtering down, and so you're unwilling to leave the bar...uh, hotel until the eruption stops or the school make suitable provisions for your travel. A simple filter mask should be enough, but it'd give you a few extra days waiting for it to be delivered. Personally I think this is just solid evidence that we should bring back airships and scrap these noisy, pollution, expensive plains, along with the jet-set lifestyle.
