I would like to get a discussion going by learning a bit more about the members and what their personal favourite technology product is be it software, hardware or even a fave manufacturer and wait for it..........why you like that particular one :-D

Because it just works and apple care is great For home routers / switches linksys and netgear For school enviroments as far as routers / switches I would probably go with HP, Cisco ( if you can afford ) and Juniper is meant to be pretty good Software wise OS X including there software ie iMovie, iDVD, iTunes ( but only on the apple platform not on windows ), SIW, spiceworks, FOG, Clone Zilla, videohelp.com has a lot of software for video conversions etc such as handbrake and super Dell is ok as far as normal PC's are concerned but since going to the Dark Side ( Apple ) I have not bothered too much with windows hardware or software aside from when I am at work and thats a pita Edited July 22, 2009 by mac_shinobi 1

Hardware: Can't beat Toshiba laptops, been top quality for a while now. Up until recently I always used NEC desktops, good quality at a low price and superb support with their standard 3 year warranty. Then they pulled out of Europe

I dislike Intel and the way the company behaves, their pricing and general anti-competitive behaviour. I do love AMD, always have, bargain priced, awesome Processors, could not fault them. AMD X-2 6400BE was superb, out benched the majority of C2D, apart from the expensive extreme ones. Whos going to pay £600 when a £140 processor is marginally worse. AMD Phenom II 955 BE is now my all time favourite, never mind the Q6600 or the i7's you couldn't fault a true quad core. AMD have always lead with innovation, smaller budgets, less research budgets however they still come up with ingenious systems. Same can be said for ATI Graphics cards, always the underdog vs Nvidia, always bringing a smile to the masses. ATI being owned by AMD is a sure good thing, the two companies fit like a glove, and lets not forget the AMD chipset. 790FX is outstanding compared to the majority of other chipsets. And then we have AMD's clever thinking in action, the "Spider" system, running AMD processors, AMD chipsets and AMD Graphics, the three components are designed to work together at peak performance. Not sure what Samsung are like now but when I had one it just worked all the time and never had any issues with it and the support from them was great sent it back and got it repaired and sent back within a few days in total

Most probably because I work with it. I have worked with it on a massive scale in a previous job, I worked with it when I had a small PC business many many years ago and I am currently working with it on a much smaller scale. I much prefer the simple things in life like my garden, drinking a good wine and relaxing with a good film or listening to the radio. Too much technology in my opinion is around us and the majority of it is not necessary unless it's involved in a medical matter - [ like saving the life of my oldest son many years ago ] 2
PEO Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Personally I think Dell suck, overrated, and cost a fortune to repair DELL PSU to fit Dell PC case cost us £80 standard would have cost £30 Dell printers.... poor quality and cost a fortune to replace the toner cartridge. And I'm not to keen on the DELL switches... had two fail in the space of 4 month.

torledo Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I'd have to say cisco, because they are the most diverse networking company. For servers and storage it has to be ibm. I like toshiba because i think they make good quality copiers and laptops.

Hightower Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 G1! Acer Aspire 1! PS3! (Those three for personal reasons obviously) I do like Dell & HP kit. In terms of software, my favourite piece at the moment would have to be Sony Vegas (got a lot of editing to do over summer).
