Turning Point is your best bet for dedicated hardware, as it integrates with PowerPoint which makes it easier to use. Although their new licensing model is an inflexible pain to work with...

Nextbase here too. Halfords will fit it for £30, hardwired into the fusebox. Considering they sell the wiring kit used for £20 that's a no brainer - especially as it involves routing the cable through the trim on the pillars which contain airbags, I'd rather let somebody who knows what they are doing (or Halfords) screw that one up rather than me do it.

I have a pet theory that the rise of (and misuse of) VLEs has made the live lecture experience worse, because of the expectation that the Powerpoint slides, when uploaded to said VLE, will function as a complete set of lecture notes, rather than just being a visual aid to help to tell the story during the presentation. https://stevebentleyhud.wordpress.com/2015/02/09/has-the-vle-made-lectures-worse/

(This seemed to be the best forum for this, but it doesn't really fit anywhere neatly) We saw these devices at BETT C-Pen Exam Reader and now have one on trial. I like the potential for cutting down on staffing and room resources for exams, and the benefits to students being able to be more independent and more comfortable in the exam scenario. In general it's a great bit of kit, however they don't seem very good at reading numbers - it detects decimal points and displays it on the screen but doesn't read it out - and for things like equations and chemical formulae, forget it. Sadly as I work in the Science department of a University that's a bit of an issue. I can see a potential workaround in printing a word by word version that the student can scan (as we're a University we write our own exam papers, so we can probably get approval to do it) but has anybody else come up with workarounds? Or is it a non-issue? Do students with dyslexia and related challenges tend to be ok with things that are not words? Cheers Steve

Worth bearing in mind that traditionally TV channels came in groups covering a sub-band of the UHF spectrum, and you would buy an aerial designed to receive the specific group of frequencies that your transmitter worked on. Neighbouring transmitters work in different groups to reduce interference, so an aerial designed for the Wrekin won't give good results on Sutton, for example. With the way Channel 5 and later digital TV was shoehorned in, some of this has gone out of the window and wideband aerials are often used instead, but if it's an older installation or a recent one not done by a cowboy the chances are you will have a grouped aerial, so just swinging it round won't work.

Give them the clue in the form of a QR code?

Merge them into one document and then use your printer driver's options for multi-page printing?

Write a different aspect of your job on each one and demonstrate the difficulties of juggling them all?

The last post in every thread is missing for me (using Chrome at the moment), I can see the text if I view source so obviously an HTML markup or rendering issue rather than a database one. Suspect it may be related to the advert displayed?

"Is this on our website?" is a frequent one from a particular member of staff who clearly hadn't bothered to look. "Yes, there's a big banner right in the middle of the home page, is it too subtle?" was about as sarcastic as I thought I could get away with last time.

What's the deal with MOT and Servicing on a 4 year lease? On a 3 year lease you'll be handing it back as it comes due for MOT, but does the company you're leasing from take care of the first MOT on a longer lease?

I'm looking fairly seriously at the maths for leasing, it's looking quite tempting compared to the costs of maintaining an older car and the nasty shocks that seem to come with each MOT.

Massive grey area, at least in education. The "Illustration for Instruction" bit which was added to the copyright laws about a year ago lets you do a number of things that would otherwise be illegal, if it's genuinely for teaching, and that trumps YouTube's T&Cs. But I'm not volunteering to be a test case in court!

Theoretically, [email protected] should get you through to a human being, if they're RFC compliant. Universities tend to do these things properly!

Also consider a DSLR that does video - with the right lens, low light performance can be much better if that's an issue for you.
