A lad at the school next door (just back from holidaying in Mexico) is being tested as we speak!! We have a shared site and share some buildings......time to break out the masks

Bl00dy H3ll seems it has reached Newcastle!!! If it ever gets in here am wearing a biochemical suit as NONE of our kids ever wash their hands and we have a biometric swipe system for the lunches!!!!!!! Cracking out the antibacterial hand gel as we speak!!!

I nearly got sent home yesterday, why? because i play football with somone who returned home from Mexico lastweek, im not ill, hes not ill yet i was close to being sent home. was utter pandemonium in the staff room i can tell yer!

 

He on the otherhand works for a bank and hes been given a week off.... company policy.. heh

So swine flu is just a normal common cold?

unless you have the kick a$$ version of Swine Flu... which attacks your lungs in almost the same way as smoking does, only replacing the lung cancer with some other dangerous and life threatening disease?

 

And everyones panicing?

 

Go stand outside a pub on a cold, busy night with the smokers and you have you very own version of a swine flu replica!

No, it is not a 'common cold'. A cold is a viral infection, yes. But influenza is a lot more dangerous, even in a mild form. A million people die every year (that figure is from a news report I read, but don't remember which) from Influenza strains.

 

There is no 'panic', there is prudent planning, and preventative work going on - much like we do in ICT. We plan for the worst, but it very rarely happens. If this strain had been worse, and the steps that have been taken weren't taken, imagine the fall-out...
