What is this "public transport" of which you speak? Not many buses left in rural areas ..... one a week for Market Day in many places!!!!

A trifle moist in Kendal over the weekend ..... big tidy up underway now though some streets still a bit like Venice. I wonder if the salvage rules of the sea apply to abandoned cars in floodwater? If I get a line on board and tow them to shore can I claim salvage rights? Like they say in these parts though ..... if it didn't rain a lot it wouldn't be called the "Lake" District. Instead it would be the "big-holes-in-the-ground" District. Interesting journey to work this morning!

I queried this some time ago and was informed that legally it was connected to the fact that we are not "citizens" but "subjects". Our "right" to vote is not actually a "right" but a "courtesy" from the monarch who can legally withdraw the right at will. The government/parliament acts on behalf of the monarch and has decided to withdraw the privilege from those who are incarcerated or are members of the Lords. Think anyone ever convicted of election fraud is also barred. There was also lots of other legal constitution stuff which sailed way above my head but was to do with other European monarchies having voting rights written into their constitution. I suppose strictly speaking ...... we are not actually a democracy. Legally parliament can ignore the wishes of the public ...... eg war with Iraq etc!

A pub in Carnforth thought of changing its name a while ago as they got fed up of the letter C being painted out on its signs. Its not a bad pub actually ..... called the Canal Turn!

LOL ...... I was disappointed he wasn't metal but at least it's better than Jason Donovan! Patrick (my son) plays bass but also laid down some other guitar in the studio. Richard (Hence "Rich and the Poor") is a really talented songwriter ..... vocals and lead guitar. Joel ... drums .... Hayley .... vocals, tambourine and eye-candy!!! Usual story ..... grew up together in a tiny rural town ..... off to Uni. ..... back home to what? ...... I know ..... lets form a band. Been gigging round the North West (Lancaster, Manchester etc) for a couple of years. Used to be called "Fancy Dress Party" but changed name a year ago. Will they get anywhere? Who knows ..... they're just enjoying the ride......
