Hi, it seems it was an issue with a specific AQA paper - it's been fine with others Cheers
-
@ass17 First time using EWP in anger this morning, the PDF papers loaded fine but when trying to read aloud we just got a load of random numbers spoken instead of the paper text. Any ideas please? Cheers

Curious what everyone else does on these days?

Hi all Sorry to jump onto this thread but we are also with InVentry and have yet to have a "successful" fire drill using their data. How do the sign-in app users find the fire/evacuation process? What lists does it produce when an evacuation is started? Are the lists customisable at all (for example, our fire officers would like separate lists for teaching staff and support staff)? TIA

Thanks Fluke - had to get them to send me the activation codes in the end

Hi All Trying to get activation codes for some Cubase V12 licences. I can successfully register the elicencer, and have I entered the licence redemption code OK via the web site. In the past, I have then received an activation code to enter into the elicencer - but I don't on this occasion. I cant use the download assistant as we are behind a proxy, so any ideas on how to get the activation code please? Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Interesting to hear that you never experience this issue We have several SALTO encoders on various WIN 10 PC's and laptops and they all run into this from time to time - very frustrating and super difficult to troubleshoot
-
Hi - any SALTO users out there? We are using SALTO space with our USB reader/encoders From time to time, the card reader/encoders fail with a message of "peripheral timeout" We try everything such as different USB ports, restarting Space, re-installing the driver etc but the only thing that ever seems to work is multiple PC reboots until it seems to magically work again. Has anyone else experienced this issue and do you have a solution to it please? Cheers

If it helps anyone else out there, its not exactly apparent but Oak are hosting their content on mux.com if you need to whitelist the domain

Hi all We are trying to use the InVentry Anywhere app and are getting mixed results. It doesn't seem to like connecting via our WiFi at all but through 4G we can log in, the app will correctly sync with the InVentry anywhere server, and will pull down who is currently signed in, your correct sign-in status etc. but when we try and sign-in/out via the app it says it has done so but seemingly fails to push that info back to the main console. We have opened the ports they requested on our firewall and have whitelisted the domains they asked for but the issue remians Has anyone else successfully got this to work and what did you need to do if so please? Cheers

Thanks for the replies all, much appreciated. As we need the spines marking specifically, we are going to try a small engraving machine - that way we can strike out the description if needed and add a new one next to it
-
Good idea Keyboards but we (and other members of staff) need to be able to see them at a glance
-
Thanks for the suggestions, we looked at engraving etc but of course that is non reversible if the laptops get re-allocated. Glad we are not the only ones finding it tricky to find an answer to this!

Hi all We have several laptop banks and need a way to mark up the spines of the laptops with a location and number. It needs to be semi-permanent (IE so the kids cant remove it or rub it off but so we can if the laptop changes details later). We have tried various asset stickers and various marking/paint pens but nothing seems to last for long - does anyone else do this and have any suggestions please? Cheers

And it was a group policy that was doing this! Found it at least!

Thanks, unfortunately doesnt make any difference if they are logged off. The issue is there every login

Hi all and help please... I have a user on a Win 7 PC. They started to have an issue whereby the monitor would go black on login with just the mouse pointer showing (which they could not move) and after a while they would be returned to the login prompt. They can login elsewhere, and anyone else can login to the PC successfully I've found that if I delete the users profile folder and their entry in the registry, they can log on as normal once - and then the issue re-appears for any subsequent logon attempts Looking at the task manager in Impero it would seem that explorer is not starting. I can send a message to the PC within whilst the screen is black and it shows on the screen, and also plugging in a USB brings up a notification window - so it doesn't appear to be anything to do with display drivers etc. The logs don't show anything out the ordinary At a bit of a loss frankly - any thoughts please?

Cubase 8 On RM Network
Symbiosis replied to dominicbastone's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Think I found the answer, for anyone else looking. In the local AppData/Roaming/Steinberg/yourcubaseversion folder are some xml files. 1) The Registration nag is in the defaults.xml here: where value="0" is ask and value="1" is dont ask 2) The demo nag is in the Demo.xml Change from value="ask" to value="never" to turn it off You need to copy these over to your users to disable the pop-ups - hope that helps someone -

Thanks ataylor - that's really useful, particularly grateful for the photos. Interesting that you went for the lectern below the stage rather than on it - any reason? Cheers -

HDMI or VGA for laptop to projector?
Symbiosis replied to Symbiosis's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks for that 3s-gtech - interesting. Can I ask what you mean by active HDMI please? -
Our current hall projector is being replaced and currently all the kit is currently set up for VGA connections only (ie faceplates, cabling, 4:3 screen etc) There's obviously more of a cost to upgrade everything to enable HDMI connectivity - so is it worth it? The projector is mostly used for powerpoints with the odd video here and there, is there a noticeable difference in quality for these applications? I also have to consider futurebility (ie is VGA going to be replaced by HDMI) Any thoughts please? Thanks

Hi All I've been tasked with looking at replacing our aging 10 year old projector and upgrading our sound reinforcement (voice) system Probably helpful to give an overview of what we currently have: VGA projector to 12ft 4:3 screen Sound system with wireless hand held mics and a couple of wireless lapel mics Built in laptop hooked up to the projector in a static unit to stage left Our SLT team dont like using hand held mics and the lapel mics give too much background noise etc - they also dont like having to crane necks to look at the screen from stage left to make sure its working. My thoughts were a mobile (on wheels) lectern with built in wireless gooseneck mic and a wireless projector so the laptop on the lectern could wirelessly (via WiFi) send the video and sound up to the projector and then the sound could be wired back to the amp What do you all have please, any experiences with wireless projectors? Do I need HDMI or is VGA sufficient? It's mostly powerpoints and the odd video Thanks
