If Jade wants to die in the public eye so be it. I won't be looking.

If people want to gawp at her in magazines then that's their choice. I personally won't be partaking in that activity.

She is just one of millions of people who have been through the same, if not more traumatic times. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I've had close family members die of cancer. It happens, you deal with it and get on with the short blip of a life we all have.

Give it a year or two and people won't even remember her. Its sad but there ya go..

Brave is when someone has a choice....Our boys in Afghanistan are 'brave'.

What from being told what to do? and where to go and who to shoot?

They are tools.

p.s. I dont mean the 90s derogatory word 'tool', the traditional 'entity used to interface' state tool.

I feel bad for her, but its her sons that I feel for most. Did anyone see any of the wedding at all? I saw little bits and while she was all smiles for the camera, her sons looked like they were the ones dying.

What concerns me is why she feels she needs to be on a mission to raise as much money for her kids as possible.

I was dragged up on a council estate by parents who didn't have two pennies to rub together (one parent left later on). I turned out all right without a silver spoon by working hard at school and getting good GCSEs, working hard in employment and working hard as an adult going back to uni part time as a mature student.

Didn't need any money from my folks to do any of that.

I would guess by saying that she feels there isn't much else she can give. She will have very little influence in their lives considering their young ages. They won't remember that much of her by their late teens - that has got to hurt her more than anything. So this is something she can do which will make a difference in their lives.

Gibbo - I guess you aren't a parent?

Most parents try their best for their children, and will do whatever is in their power to make life better or easier for them. Jade is doing the only thing she can do for her boys, apart from love them, but as Bat says, they may not remember her very well.

What gets my back up is how someone who couldn't even pronounce East Anglia, nevermind

know where it is, could be be allowed to accumulate so much media attention and money

when we impress on our children that education and a grasp of culture are part of the

foundations to a successful life. All she is helping perpetuate is that being ill makes

you famous and having no talent except a big gob leads to riches.

This flagship of ignorance and petty-minded, self indulgent crap isn't going to even die

out of the public eye. I couldn't give two hoots about her, if she hadn't been diagnosed

with cancer we'd have seen her come back from the Indian Big Brother show with a contract

for a show with Shilpa Shetty... I know, the Jade & Shilpa Show, a Love Thy Neighbour stroke

Birds of a Feather gig where two over-paid and under-talented girlies exchange unamusing

anecdotes about the trials and tribulations of life in a world where celebrity and education

are poles apart... against a backdrop of our post-colonial Britain... Hee hee you get my

point.

Or worse... Celebrity Cancer... where at the end of the show hooded figure announces "I'm

coming to get you!..."

pauljonze: I don't disagree with your conclusions about education, celebrity and culture.

However, you are being a little hard on Shilpa Shetty, describing her as 'under-talented'.Presumably you base your ideas on the fact that you had never heard of her before she was in 'Big Brother'

She may not be famous in this country, but in India she is a huge star and, according to some friends of mine in India, she can actually act. She also went to university.

So it isn't really fair to lump her in with an ill educated and talentless (by her own admission) Jade.

As for your remarks about a Cancer show - really not at all amusing

Au contraire, I do actually find them amusing.

With the dross on British tv it's only a matter of time before we have 'Celebrity Brain Surgery' or some such rubbish.......populated by these so-called z-list celebrities.

"Congratulations, Coleen, your brain transplant on Wayne failed, but in doing so you've increased his IQ by 150% by giving him the brain of a squirrel...."

Ok, so if she can act - I await the next big hit blockbuster from India. Oh wait, I mean the first big hit blockbuster from India. Or even a big hit blockbuster from Hollywood that stars the brilliant Shilpa Shetty.

She also went to university.

And? I know plenty of people who have (apparantly) been educated, and yet they still haven't got tuppence ha'penny of common sense.

I don't know whether SS can act, but surely the fact that Bollywood cinema isn't mainstream doesn't mean that she can't act? Nor does her non-appearance in a Hollywood blockbuster reflect on her acting skills. I've yet to see proof that Megan Fox can do anything but look hot, but she's was in "Transformers".

I think this is all going off track really but for the record, I didn't see any comment that she couldn't act? The Bollywood genre doesn't float my boat but I'd consider it mainstream too, probably as many

people watch Bollywood movies as so-called mainstream Hollywood gumph.

Mr T has a got a 2.1 in Bio-mechanical enginerring at Yale and he can act the socks off Shilpa thingy and he has common sense. Who can forget his message to kids to protect them from the dangers of air travel 'I ain't getting on no airplane'

I think that proves many things if you think about it.

pauljonze: Sorry - I took your comment about 'under-talented' girlies to mean that you felt she had no talent at acting, since that is what she does for a living.

I have to agree with you about Bollywood though- it IS mainstream for the people who live in the Indian sub-continent.

Hightower: why would you think that she could only be considered as 'talented' if she was in a Hollywood blockbuster - since when was that anything to do with talent?

There are many many actors in this world, either in other countries, or genres other than film (eg theatre) who are incredibly talented but who have never been in a Hollywood film, nor would they want to.

As for common sense - I don't believe I mentioned this - I was responding to the comments about ill-educated celebrities.

Gibbo - I didn't know you were a parent, I apologise. However, I stand by my comments that as a parent you will do pretty much anything to ensure your childrens' future, if you can

Simcfc23: Have you ever seen Shilpa Shetty in a film?

My bad - she is very talented. How idiotic of me to think otherwise.

Problem is where does it all end, has Clifford negotiated the rights with Heat/Hello/OK to do an open casket shoot when she's finally passed?

Perhaps he should wave his fee and give it to her kids instead, if he was that concerned about her........

If jade goody is so stupid, how come she earned 50x our yearly wage in a day?

Because she's stupid - that's exactly what we've been discussing this whole time. Where have you been?

Just because she attracts large amount of cash for being some kind of bovine commodity

for the tabloids and trashy mags doesn't infer any intelliegence. This is nothing new; look

at similar approaches such as winning the lottery, acting, premiership football, pornography,

the royal family and similar low effort big return jobs. Who else can I offend???

Because the shallow, dimwitted people who watch rubbish like BB and buy the trashy newspapers and magazines full of this facile drivel are stupid to boot as well.

I really do fear for the future of mankind when the masses absorb inane crap like this.

Deliberately trying to offend will never work....you might as well say that working in a dead-end job as a school tech on a really rubbish wage doesn't infer any intelligence either :)

Jade Goody is under no illusions about how clever or otherwise she is - what she has got is some kind of business savvy - she has maximised her opportunities to earn money.

I think that this sort of trash TV is not really different to the 'freaks' that used to attract huge audiences in circuses and fairgrounds. And the crowds that would attend public hangings in previous centuries.

With your superior intellect you must surely be more successful than her? Or are you just trying to be elitist? I have respect to people who can be successful with what limited means they have at their disposal. She has done very well with limited means, what would your excuse be? She is successful because she is stupid? Frankly that makes no sense at all. As far as I have been able to make out, to be successful at making money through the media takes a lot of work and ambition. Its a job just like any other.
