steveg Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Is anyone else having problems with CPOMS since yesterdays roll out of their new authentication method? We are just getting "It seems this application has become very popular, and its available rate limit has been reached. Please retry after a few minutes." When trying to authenticate. 1
synaesthesia Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Yes, constantly It's shocking for a safeguarding system, and starting to wish we stuck with MyConcern. 1
steveg Posted January 14, 2025 Author Posted January 14, 2025 Yes, constantly It's shocking for a safeguarding system, and starting to wish we stuck with MyConcern. It's been rock solid for the last few years we used it, until they started changing all the login systems. We've had more issues in the last 2 months than we had in the previous 4 years. 1
synaesthesia Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Typical - we've only had it since September
Danp Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 It's been rock solid for the last few years we used it, until they started changing all the login systems. We've had more issues in the last 2 months than we had in the previous 4 years. Agree with this 1
PrimaryNetMan Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 They were upgrading their systems last night. Must have not gone so well 1
mavhc Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 It's amazing how many schools use it compared to how bad it is. Failed to sync supply staff, uses xporter which is the worst, sync fails half the time, no sso, totp comes up with a different name, adding new staff doesn't include their email address, defaults to full admin rights, saving permissions for groups doesn't save all of them, only the page you're currently on
Scifigirl Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 CPOMS is a nightmare for admin too-- so many steps to get staff set up, and then when you add a service you need to administer that separately. its painful.
Simcfc73 Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 We've got a new SENCO so not the best start to the year.
WannabrewUK Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 What I find frustrating is the lack of communication when there's an outage, be it CPOMS, Classcharts or any other education provider. 3
Koldov Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Yes, I'm getting reports teachers get a 'server busy' message today!
Cat_Jam148 Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 (edited) What I find frustrating is the lack of communication when there's an outage, be it CPOMS, Classcharts or any other education provider. ^ This For a system which is so important nowadays I'd expect them to at least send an email to everyone marked as admin. The trend nowadays for service providers is usually one of three: 1. a status page which gives false hope, states everything is fine and shows 100% uptime 2. having to check social media to confirm a service is down 3. no communication at all from said service provider. Arbor is about the best for this IMO, they are pretty quick to send out an email if there is a problem, even if it is something like the search box not working. DrCheese Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Agree - Smoothwall seem to be the best at keeping customers informed about issues. Everyone else is... meh 1
Pottsey Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 What I find frustrating is the lack of communication when there's an outage, be it CPOMS, Classcharts or any other education provider. Fully agree there should be an email. https://status.raptortech.com/ gives us a status update but unless you happen to know about it, I am not sure how one would find it. 1
DrCheese Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I see they are reading this thread - Just had this email from them Dear Customer, Following an update last night, we have been made aware this morning that some of our customers are experiencing issues logging into CPOMS and are unable to get beyond the login and 2FA pages. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue causing the error page to be presented and have found that continually refreshing will take you to the correct screen. Please rest assured, the system is not down, however access may be intermittent prior to reaching the dashboard. We will update you as soon as we can. Apologies for all inconvenience. Best wishes, The CPOMS Customer Success Team
dgsmith Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I see they are reading this thread.. Was just about to say the same, looks like someone has taken the initiative to actually communicate they are aware of the issue. I am sure many of those who use cpoms would not have any idea where to check for updates other than calling, and I am sure cpoms have been inundated today.

Our service desk was, so we emailed out to all staff. Usually if we're aware of something & it won't be fixed within say.. 5 minutes we will communicate with Staff. I don't know why so many companies don't. It massively eases the load on your service desk. 1

Fox Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 We have been having nightmares here too. Very bad service, sorry but your service is down if people paying for it can't access it. Can't wait to move to another system.
TRSJon Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I don't envy the CPOMS staff who get to attend BETT this year - CPOMS Systems Limited - Bett UK at ExCeL London | The world’s leading education technology show Think there may be some "conversations" to be had.
sigma Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 (edited) I really don't understand why school supplier changes/maintenance have to take place during the week when the weekend provides more contingency time in the event of problems. I'm not really clear why major changes which this seems to be have been, take place during term time at all. Edited January 14, 2025 by sigma 4
Edu-IT Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 I really don't understand why school supplier changes/maintenance have to take place during the week when the weekend provides more contingency time in the event of problems. I'm not really clear why major changes which this seems to be have to have been, take place during term time at all. My thoughts too. This could have been implemented during a break when schools aren’t as reliant on the system.
timbo343 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 (edited) I tried CPOMS last night and it worked wihtout any issues so the issue might be now fixed. I did have to setup my 2FA again even though I was already using Google Authenticator but it seems that anyone using the CPOMS Authenticator will now be asked to use a 3rd party authenticator such as Google Authenticator or MS Authenticator. Google Authenticator now shows CPOMS: *email address* rather than "Meteric" which is an improvement. Update - just tried again this morning, and it gave the "oops something went wrong message" but a refresh of the page brought up the 2FA code screen. Also, it seems CPOMS are holding on to an authentication cookie as I was able to log straight into CPOMS this morning without entering any information, hence I feel like CPOMS has a cached cookie some where. KSCSIT Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 It's still toast here. I think you got lucky and hit them when schools had gone home for the night.
