Popular Post Dos_Box Posted April 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) Today is Linda’s - @elsiegee40 - last day as a moderator on EduGeek as she is retiring to spend time bird watching and caring for wildlife at the Folly Wildlife Rescue centre where she volunteers her time. Linda has been one of our longest serving mods and we shall miss her help, not just on the site, but at BETT and our EDIT confs (yes, we shall be having one later this year) and input greatly. She’ll still be around offering advice, but now she will have lots of time to pursue her interests and take it easy, not that she ever did of course! From all of us here at EduGeek, we wish you a happy and fulfilling retirement Linda Edited April 28, 2023 by Dos_Box 100
smurfomatic Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Many thanks @elsiegee40 for all your work keeping us on the straight and narrow, I know from previous experience on other forums that moderating is no easy task. 2
icttech Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 All the best Linda, wish you a happy retirement. 1
LeMarchand Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Enjoy your "mod" retirement, and the extra time with the animals. 1
DalekSec Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 I'll miss the constant back to topic messages! Enjoy your stress free retirement from stopping political debates! 1
Popular Post ICTDirect_Dave Posted April 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 28, 2023 @elsiegee40 Happy Retirement Linda! Without your firm, but fair hand. I expect this place to swiftly become a lawless, chaotic society in no time at all 5
tg12 Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Thank you for everything @elsiegee40, and more importantly, your kindness. Your presence certainly will be missed! Enjoy the extra time with the wildlife! 2
southhamster Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Farewell Linda and thank you. Hopefully the animals will be less unruly than on here! 1
Popular Post elsiegee40 Posted April 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) So much for slipping the Mod badge off quietly [emoji6] Thanks all. Mr gee40 retires next week and I decided that it was a good time for me to retire too. Mr gee40 has spent much of his career working away from home - often not in the UK - and I am really looking forward to being able to spend time doing things with him. That will naturally include bird watching and some travel (a camper van purchase is definitely under consideration). And yes, I’ll continue with my volunteering at Folly where the busy baby bird season has just started - my favourite time of year at the hospital. It will be nice to eat my breakfast without scanning EduGeek for trouble or, as happened this morning, doing it between rounds of baby bird feeding at Folly as my shift there started at 7am today. When I found EduGeek back in January 2007 - just before BETT - I had no idea how much it would become part of my life. Not only did it save my career on more than one occasion, but I have also made some fantastic friends both electronically and face to face. I’ll still be around and I might well forget myself and steer you back on topic from time to time [emoji3] I’m happy to continue posting up jobs for those who want to distance their posting name from their real school too. And if you need a chat, as always, I can be messaged [emoji4] Edited April 28, 2023 by elsiegee40 59

XiJ Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Thank you for everything @elsiegee40, and more importantly, your kindness. Your presence certainly will be missed! Enjoy the extra time with the wildlife! I couldn’t have put this any better. Happy retirement @elsiegee40 1
GrumbleDook Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Happy retirement @elsiegee40. I can't express how happy I am to hear you are retiring as it is well and truly deserved. The place will be quieter without you and you leave a massive pair of shoes for any future Mod to try to fill. Take care, don't be a stranger, and looking forward to seeing more of your trials and tribulations with wildlife. 1

Popular Post ZeroHour Posted May 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 1, 2023 I would like to thank Linda for all her time and help with EduGeek and the hobnobs! Her contribution and work on EduGeek has been immeasurable and that's before we get to her helping keep things running smoothly on the stand at BETT. Its going to be a struggle to cover all you did! I really hope we will all be able to meet up when we are in the vicinity again and I really enjoyed your travels to my neck of the woods last year and I cant wait to see all the forthcoming photos of your adventures! 6
Danp Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 ....That will naturally include bird watching and some travel (a camper van purchase is definitely under consideration). .... Don't even consider it, make it happen. There are lots for sale as the covid builds are now coming up. We built our own and although don't make enough use of it, when we do it's wonderful. Happy retirement! 1
