FN-GM Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 What number is the perfect cup of tea? Shamelessly stolen from the Tesco Twitter feed. https://twitter.com/Tesco/status/1649314554751381505/photo/1
jthompson Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 2.5 6 just makes me feel a bit sick. They are all too full, though.
LeMarchand Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 1 for coffee, 2.5 if I have to have tea. That said, I thought that 2
DeGrimmy Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 The perfect cup of tea is actually coffee I don't drink tea myself, but if I was making one for someone else, I'd aim for 3. My brother, however, doesn't take milk in tea!
MartinT Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I don't take milk in anything! Black Americano please, and lots of it.
jthompson Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I can drink tea without milk, but it needs to be brewed for a shorter length of time than normal.
FN-GM Posted April 21, 2023 Author Posted April 21, 2023 6 just makes me feel a bit sick. Agreed! @Dos_Box can we introduce a weeks ban for anyone who responds with a 6? 3
jthompson Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I'm not one for telling others that their preferred cuppa is WRONG!! but yeah, don't make me a 6 or I will be very disappointed in you as a person. I might even.. gasp! ... not drink it.
localzuk Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 The numbers are sometimes a bit different if you use non-dairy alternatives to milk. My experience, tea with (good quality) oat milk is darker generally, so if I use that it'd be 4-5. For soy its 3-4.
msi_school Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Some where between 3 and 4 but if you have just made me a cup of tea I am very forgiving.
Steve21 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Number 0 is my perfect cup of tea. Yuk! Martin has a good point! Steve 1
EssentialRug Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 4 with Oat milk. However if someone is kind enough to make me one, I'll drink it whatever shade it is
elsiegee40 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Black for coffee. Usually 3-4 for tea, but I’ll drink that black too. If my mother in law makes it 6… it’s too much of a hassle to get it stronger
DalekSec Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 In the bag, in the box, on the shelf in the store, where it belongs.
Davit2005 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) No milk, no sugar and decaf. But I rarely drink tea , like I've had prob 10 cups this year max. Haven't had coffee for a much longer time, probably a good few years. Edited April 21, 2023 by Davit2005
Koldov Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 For a long time I drank tea (this was obviously my gateway drug as a youngster) and I guess I'd take it somewhere about 3.5.... Strange thing is I like it brewed strong but then with a lot of milk (sounds odd even as I'm saying it), oh and at least 3 sugars, as nobody asked.... rude! Anyway, then I seem to remember getting addicted to coffee for a long time, then had no preference for a while, then made the switch back to tea. More recently I switched back to coffee and have found a similar experience as with the tea, as I like it both milky AND strong... full cup of milk microwaved and a massive heaped spoonful of Nescafe Azera 'americano intense'... oh and I'm now down to 1 sweetener! So I guess there's a Latte feeling to it, but the thing is I have at least 15+ cups a day so without the milk it plays havoc with my insides.... It's actually all I drink on a daily basis (apart from maybe a lager or a JD and coke once in a blue moon)... Also I have actually really gone off tea!
jthompson Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Tea, earl grey, hot, number 5... It amuses me that technology as sophisticated as a starship food replicator would have 'cold' as a default setting for serving a cup of tea.
mikeprice Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Personally - somewhere between 2 and 3 basically just enough to change the colour is fine - a little bit more is OK but those higher numbers are just hot milk! coffee must be black as the Gods intended - milk in coffee is the mark of [enter generalised insult here] Oh - and should be hot will drink more gentle tea black quite happily but your general tea is a bit too acidic without a drop of milk!
TechMonkey Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I don't take milk in anything! Black Americano please, and lots of it. An Americano is black, so a black Americano is tautology. I'm not getting into the debate of whether an Americano with milk is really a flat white, a latte or its own thing!!
