My speculation on the current contents is either a small toy horse or a possibly some form of mouse (living or otherwise) Bingo And people criticize supermarkets for using too much packaging! Plus the cost of sending it City Link must actually outweigh the cost of the mouse! Maybe I'll turn it into a little grave for the dead mouse now...

I get those all the time from Microsoft software assurance, I have had box lots of four hard drives shipped in smaller containers than MS uses to ship me a single CD. SteveB_NI Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I was going to make a thread laughing about this but you saved me the bother I recently phoned Dell to ask them to send us a number of replacement laptop keyboards - as we are covered under accidental damage the helpdesk operator asked if we had any other problems such as plastic casing damage, DVD-ROM damage etc- I thought this would be a good time to mention I would appreciate some replacement rubber dots (covering the screws) which had been pinched by students from around the laptop displays. Cue 15mins or so on hold as the operator attempts to find the part number for the rubber dots lol! Anyway - I asked him for quite a few as I plan to smarten the laptops up again over summer.... They were delivered a number of days later - 1 very large jiffy bag containing 1 small rubber dot well wrapped up!!!! They sent us 6 or so I think so 6 of these jiffy bags landed on my desk. Remember - these dots cover 1 really small screw top - so you can imagine the size! I was hoping for maybe a whole sheet of rubber dots or such like!

Heck, we got one huge box (the same size as you get on these beastly-sized laser printers) from DABS, just for a few screen sprays (although, DABS always oversize on their packaging)!

I'm all for my stuff not getting broke in transit but that's ridiculous! Yep i hate all this "recycle, green, recycle, save the earth, we're taxing you for the sake of the planet" bollox. If people were serious about recycling and saving the planet they would put a stop to manufacturers and companies using un-nessessery packaging, not pick on teh small man who has no say on how much extra packaging comes with his Walkers crisps bag. Can you imagine have many trees are used for no reason and how much space is wasted on every lorry, train, plane, ship etc and how much that adds up to. If things didnt come in boxes 20x bigger than needed there probably wouldnt even be a need to recycle at all. Edited July 4, 2008 by Guest
