I wouldn't supply anything less than an i5 for a teacher.

Thats quite a low spec. I would be looking at a minimum of a 10th gen I5 with 16GB Ram.

 

I was ordering devices with 8GB RAM back in 2014.

Although Dynabook's support/after sales has been good to my infant school, out of 6 devices supplied last year, we're on our 4th failure. Same model as above.

The generation of chips appears to make quite a difference. The 12th gen i5s seen to outperform the 11th gen i7 in mine. 10th gen is there years old now - given how long we generally keep laptops in education, I always try and go for the most recent spec I can.

Hello, I work for a large organisation. Support is almost as important as specification. We have had bad experiences with suppliers that can't achieve a next day fix and this soon becomes days and weeks before a resolution. So do take this into consideration and absolutely avoid 'return to supplier' warranties.

I am using an HP Elitebook x360 G8 i7 32GB of ram and it seems sweet.

also consider Ryzen, the new gens are really good. i3 is poor for a teacher, i'd supply a i5 minimum/ryzen 5/7. the dynabooks i've had in to repair are poor.

 

i would also go business grade machines, elite/pro books, latitudes/thinkpads. built to last.
