I feel we're paying too much and need some evidence to drive down prices when we re-tender for our fleet.

We have just gone through a tender via CPC

 

And the prices on randomquotes include

 

B&W - 0.0019 0.0029 0.0024 0.0024 0.0020

Colour - 0.0190 0.0246 0.0232 0.0257 0.0200

The Canon Crown commercial costs for BW is 0.0019 and colour is 0.015 which includes all toners, servicing and to my surprise the staples as well if you have the finishing unit.

I have been asked to benchmark our printing costs against other schools to see whether our printing costs are high then the average or not. I was therefore wondering whether anyone would be willing to share how much their school spends on printing per year. I am especially interested in hearing from schools that are of a similar size to us (700 students, 100 staff).

It's two years since I dealt with them as I've changed jobs. Four years experience before that and I'd recommend without hesitation. I'm sure some individuals are better than others, so it's possible you could get unlucky, but for us the account team was always responsive and our local technician was great.

Those who had to use Ricoh machines here hated them with a burning passion. I don't know what the beef was with them, but we went back to Canon after a short foray.

 

This was some time back; things may have changed.

No issues with Ricoh in our school. Had them for nearly 5 years now and just finalising a new contract term with them. Our whole trust uses them and our account manager has 20 or so trusts on his book so they are widely used. Supply is an issue at the minute so your likely be looking at 6 months plus in lead times but that might the same with many manufactures given the global issues.

They get hammered and have stood up very well.

Engineer call outs have been few for machines that get such heavy use and engineers are fast and know their stuff when they do come.

Have been very impressed with them.

 

Note though they are not high quality - they are fast and functional but not designed for high end printing, so wouldn't replace a high spec machine in a reprographics office.

Thankyou. We have two FW5000's and two FW5230's. They do indeed print really fast and machines have plenty of features but the print quality is really washed out. Guess thats due to speed and also using Inkjet systems.

We've been told the newer mahcines will be better print quality. Currently looking at our options to see if we stay or go.

We do this to add for paper costs. But as the price of paper of risen we need to revaluate this.
