You might find the Android notifications log useful if you want to see what you've just dismissed. Go to add a widget, choose the Settings widget and then select Notification Log from the list.

 

 

Never knew that was there. Thank you! Have confirmed that the notification I swiped was exactly the message described in the BBC article, and also found a follow up NHS notification from the same time saying I'm fine (must have swiped that one away without seeing anything at all). Will take more care with these things in future now I know how they'll manifest.

Yup--that's just the list of timestamps for when the NHS app has made a request to the Android service.

 

....and ahahahahaa, just tapped into one of the timestamps randomly and it says "number of matches: 1". Buggrit. Guess I better talk to the Head's PA about what to do. Could really do without being away from the office for a fortnight right now!

That sounds exactly like that I caught of the message, and describes the behaviour I'm seeing since, so I guess panic over for now.

 

EDIT2: that'd be the one, @ultima170387! Got to love a good old-fashioned cross-posting. Glad I'm not the only one to have seen it on my phone. Bugger me, what a way to inspire confidence in your solution.

It's annoying and although it is explained if you look hard enough, reviews on the app store show that it's not widely enough known or understood.

You've been matched with The Infected, but the NHS app has deemed that match not strong enough to isolate you.

 

It's badly worded, and badly designed, clicking it should do something in the NHS app, just tell you not to worry too much.

 

I've had 0 matches, because I'm staying the hell away from people.

Anyone else getting 2 or 3 of these messages per day now? It started off just one here and there. The app itself hasn't felt the need to notify me so I mustn't have been too close to the positive cases (or for too long), but the amount has definitely increased in the last week.

You're clearly living a more exciting life than me.

 

Also might be a sign that more people are using the app.

I had a possible exposure notification the other day but the app said it analysed it and I wasn't at risk. Would be interesting to see what it deems as being at risk. I assume contact for around 20 mins.

So I've had a strange one with the app. Last week Pupils tested positive so I opened the app since it hadn't done anything in a while. Says I have to isolated for 2 days. I'd never had any other notifications, checked my settings all were on. went home to isolate.

2 days was checked it again on Thursday night before going back to work on Friday and had a message on the app saying "good news your self isolation will finish on 15th Oct 2020 at 23:59. The test results show that at the time of testing you did not have the virus. "

 

Thing is I didn't have a test ?

 

Also this Saturday when my area went into high level (I live in a high student populated area NE6) I did get a notification and a one saying that from the previous Saturday I should isolate.

If you're self-isolating because the app has alerted you that you've been near someone who has tested positive for coronavirus, it'll use the date of the last ‘close contact’ you had with the person to calculate how long you need to self-isolate.

That looks like it is two days more to go - it thinks you have been isolating for a while already. Test result is odd though.

So you've been self isolating for 9 days, and 2 days left? sounds about right, you'd been near someone 14 days ago who got a positive result, and that took a few days to come through

I was extremely ill last November, I had all the symptoms of Covid still having issues with wheezing on my chest.

Been to the doctors and they say I could have had it! Hopefully I may find out if I had it now. I was in contact with someone that had visited China early November so it's a possibilty.

I'd like to do that. I was off sick for over 3 weeks back in Jan/Feb - I've never been off that long! Since then, I've been finding myself getting very tired, at times, and regularly sounding rather hoarse.

That's very interesting. I was ill with something vile Nov30-Dec4 last year. Put it down to normal vile lurgy... Maybe not? We have quite a few Chinese pupils.

It's a possibility, I have friends that live in China working in an international school in Beijing. They were asked to leave the country in January and only went back a few months later. From what they were telling me it was in the country a lot earlier than was reported.

They are back now but a lot of testing is still going on, especially in the school.

That's what I've been suffering from. A few other people here at the academy I work in have had the same problems. As soon as I get the test which according to the letter is in the next two weeks, I will post the result.

Got my first notification on Sunday, then another this morning - both with the "don't worry, keep safe" message.

 

Which raises two questions in my mind:-

 

1 - Why does the app not have somewhere where you can see the notifications you have been sent? They only appear on the lock screen, and as soon as I unlock the phone they disappear (iOS). Surely this is too easy for someone to miss!?

 

2 - Will these be two different potential contacts? Or is it the same contact repeating for however many days? I know I cannot (and need not) see where the contact took place, but knowing if they are the same or different events would go some way to clarifying what's going on in my world.

Its likely just the API notification based on it's settings and not the ones defined by NHSX. Been quite a lot of posts and articles about it and the app was updated to include the don't worry message to save confusion as people were thinking the API check. Remember that NHSX only looks for a "close contact" where as the bluetooth API will pick up anything in range (which could include someone in another car if your sat in a traffic jam potentially)

Looking at my exposure logs, my phone has been picking up people walking past my house late at night. Got a couple from 3 or 4am. I've also had 2 exposure notifications in the past 2 weeks, both with the "Don't worry" message.
