StevieM Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 That's what I figured. In the previous round, we were advised that they only needed to be enrolled in an MDM if we already had one in place due to the additional costs involved. Now that they are offering additional funding to support setup, I'd like to know if MDM costs will now be covered. Yeah that's what I am trying to find out now. If they are offering a grant to help with setting up the safeguarding aspect that would help me out. @executiverocker - Did you ever find out the answer to this? I've just sent a message to the ESFA asking if MDM and filtering costs are covered by the grant, but I really need to know today.
Foresthippy Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 We got 51 Dynabooks... Happy Christmas Commiserations! 1
Jawloms Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 We've been waiting for iPads to become available on this, and have received an email saying they now are. I've gone on and it basically lets me add as many iPads to my basket as I like. I currently have 1118 in my basket! How do I know how many I've been allocated, and dare I try and order 1118!? Or add some more and order a few thousand?

Jawloms Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 You should be able to see your allocation on: https://get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/ Yup, that's where I went. The massive bold bit at the top which tells you your allocation, I was just seeing "bold text" and assuming it was a title so didn't bother reading that bit....... 1
ITGuyNW Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Commiserations! SURPRISINGLY They reimaged totally fine! They seem to be rebadged Toshibas? Again, totally surprised. - - - Updated - - - @executiverocker - Did you ever find out the answer to this? StevieM Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 I've only seen this now sorry. No I never found out, did you? Not exactly...but I think they are. enjay Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 They seem to be rebadged Toshibas? Dynabook are Toshiba, they were renamed / became a subsidy / some other accounting thing a few years ago. I believe Sharp own the overall umbrella company. 1
Rob446 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Is there a way to appeal to the DfE for more? We had a few last academic year, but have been allocated 0 this year, despite nearly 300 new students joining since September.
psydii Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Dynabook are Toshiba, they were renamed / became a subsidy / some other accounting thing a few years ago. I believe Sharp own the overall umbrella company. And Foxconn own Sharp. (And Smart).

Wubbalubbadub Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 We had a further allocation today after using our full allocation earlier in the week. iPads are no longer available thoough We were lucky and got a large allocation of ipads. Delivered yesterday! Just received an email with a further allocation, but yeah - no ipads available

Andycat Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Does anyone know what the devices for the three options are? Have a: windows laptop bundle x2 and b: windows tablet with keyboard. If you're not desperate, wait until the devices you'd prefer are there, I just checked back every morning until ipads were available.
StevieM Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 If you're not desperate, wait until the devices you'd prefer are there, I just checked back every morning until ipads were available. iPads ain't a-comin' back no mo'.
enjay Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 We ... have been allocated 0 this year, despite nearly 300 new students joining since September. Presumably you also had about 300 students leave too, or is the PP number in your Year 7 much higher than it was in last year's 11/13?
6Foot3 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I emailed and got this reply: Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, Apple iPads are now permanently out of stock. They will not be available to order again. We understand this may be disappointing and apologise for any inconvenience. If your setting has an allocation remaining, you can still order an alternative device type. Kind regards,User Support
enjay Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Unfortunately, Apple iPads are now permanently out of stock. They will not be available to order again. Sure, because that won't be a massive inconvenience for a lot of schools! I guess the supply of last-gen iPads has run out, and DfE can't afford the new ones on the scheme.

I guess the supply of last-gen iPads has run out, and DfE can't afford the new ones on the scheme. We were getting 9th Gen Ipads sent for most of our orders so can't be that.
elsiegee40 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 It’s almost impossible to buy even the most recent generation lower spec iPads at the moment. There’s a 2 month wait for consumers through the Apple website.
2ilent8cho Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 We're really annoyed they have no more iPads available. We did manage to get some 9th Gens late last year, but had an email to say more devices were available to order and cannot order what we need. We are 1:1 iPad deployment for students and staff with MacBooks for staff too so the devices that are left to pick from are completely useless to us so won't bother.

Yep, 40 or so in Year 11 who left. 300+ in Year 7. Very bottom heavy distribution. Even current Year 11 is only two forms.
