  1. I've used Re-com who are affilated with Green recycling I believe, bought 40 odd laptops and 40 iPads. Mostly Dell Latitude 9430's which are lovely, i7 12th gen 16gb for £349
  2. Yeap, I brought 40 odd from Re-com (affiliated with Green recycling) and had no issues so far though still have a few to setup. Used to buy new but the £80-90 price increase was hard to justify when can get 9th Gen refurbed for £129 and in my case got stm dux plus cases as a free bonus. Had got a quote for new with our regular supplier but told them I just wanted the licenses.
  3. Going out of my mind with this, I've deployed Office2024 to a load of PC's via Intune. Staff member realised they couldn't save as to PDF, it's just not an option. I initially thought it was because I disabled PDF in the office config (after hearing it gets rid of the silly subscription button), reenabled it and redeployed the updated xml. Waited a while/force sync'd and in the end just opted to install office365 apps manually. Issue still remained despite the fresh install. I've played with disabling the 'adobe pdf' addon but this doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. Theres nothing under registry that I can see and opening word in safe mode displays the option to save as PDF. I can't see it being an Intune policy as my Intune laptop that shares most of the same policies but has the 365apps config is working as expected. Any ideas?
  4. Yeah https://status.arbor-education.com/
  5. Kicked me off last year, I'm now using neetodesk which is a little clunky at times but works relatively well and very similar to freshdesk. Free for first 10 agents, then $5 a month for extras. I think everything except custom branding is included in the freeplan.
  6. I had this assigned this morning Role: Purview Workload Content Writer Assigner: PurviewRoleAssignmentMigrator
  7. Apologies on resurrrecting this thread but was wondering if you'd had any progress with this? I've been waiting a few months and have tested flex on a few of our dfe netbooks and it's like a new laptop super snappy. 60-70 doorstops currently, even just a set of 10-15 would be nice to just chuck at people if they needed to do some basic things.
  8. I managed to get Sophos through SWGFL via Phoenix in the end, I think they're less stubborn with new customers. It's also now on a yearly basis rather than 3. https://swgfl.phoenixs.co.uk/SWGfL-Sophos/index.aspx
  9. Have the same, admin button isn't working via that page either. Surprisingly not had any staff complain yet!
  10. Also had this, our safeguarding lead called the number and apparently he'd emailed 24000 schools. I do think the guys an idiot for doing it this way though. Looks like spam, will worry the majority that see the email. All he had to do was put 'Exemplar education' in the subject title or the first line. Instead it comes across as fearmongering when the vast majority of schools won't have even heard of this provider.
  11. Good afternoon, Was wondering if anyone had any advice on finding a solution to a problem I have. We have a Post 16 site, that's been somewhat of a nightmare. Old youth centre, buildings in a bit of a state. Don't have much control over it so my options feel limited. Currently there is a 5g DLINK mobile router providing internet with sophos filtering/smooth wall monitor etc. Not ideal but they were there 2 days a week and didn't have laptops till earlier this year. The building is pretty large, classroom on one side with a laptop trolley, long hall way leading to a large social area and then an office where staff sometimes work and use the printer. The classroom + office are at opposite ends to each other. I'm wondering what the best solution internet wise would be to provide them with something sufficient to keep them going from anywhere between a few months to a year, knowing this council potentially longer. (Been a year so far) There is a broadband line already, based in the office but under the impression we don't have permission to use this as of yet and even then it's at the furthest point to the classroom. Wouldn't really have permissions to do cable runs either and the current router isn't sufficient.
  12. Thanks for this, I was hoping not to move but it may be the case that I'm forced too. The bitdefender price through SWGFL actually looks pretty good but it's a shame it's also through Phoenix who haven't impressed at all with this. Especially as they didn't alert me to there being a better SWGFL price for defender and instead quoted me almost double. Pretty shocking imo.
  13. In this situation currently, renewal quote was 330% more than the SWGFL price. Not eligible for that 'apparently' despite being a SW school and paying at this rate before. Was also quoted bit defender in the same email at almost double what SWGFL are offering it at.. both partnered with the same supplier quoting me! so definetly a little frustrated. Anyone have any thoughts? I was quite blunt with the supplier that I'd look elsewhere.
  14. That is frustrating, I've been battling this department to move their final iPads onto Jamf but it's been hurdle after hurdle. As they have quite a few of the apps like this that are expensive. Finally get the budget to buy this app in bulk and can't use the voice they use currently with all the pupils. Bahh!
  15. Trying to set up a new batch of iPads for pupils with additional needs to have one they can use at home/in school with clicker communicator app. The app has additional 'voices' that can be downloaded for free. - The iPad has no account signed in. (though I have just tried with a managed ID) - It will be used on a 1 to 1 basis. - Removed all restrictions linked to the iPad but still getting 'not allowed' I'm thinking this might be a bit of a problem, reading up on this and it seems like you need a personal account/ or the app publisher can provide you with a full version of the app. (Already spent £80 per app..) Seems quite the flaw if this is the only way..
  16. Nope, the company that sent the email this thread is regarding
  17. I've dealt with that company a few times in the past, had a chatty account manager that kept calling. Used them a bit as an extra quote, not once did they come close on pricing. I genuinely wondered how they had business the pricing was that bad. Get emails still about their screens which on the surface look pretty good but I'm guessing that's without installation/delivery/warranty etc.
  18. I use KRCS & pay £5, also were much cheaper than my previous supplier for iPads.
  19. Would also reccomend Boxphish via NetCtrl, the training is pretty good and some of the simulations are very well done. Also allows you to send additional courses/simulations on demand.
  20. It's a tricky situation unfortunately, especially considering the conflict of interest. I'm guessing the Office interior design budget is more important, any carpets been purchased recently? Educated guess. I'd definetly be trying to get feedback from the MSP on their thoughts on this situation. Then some articles about the risks, a few examples of ransomware hitting schools and the consequences. If anyone moans about the computers to you, 'I had planned to upgrade these, I was blocked from doing so. If this is restricting your lessons/teaching, take it up with slt'
  21. Don't forget the dodgy consultant, I doubt he was cheap either!
  22. Thanks for this, I did find the second link earlier through a third party but it kept coming up with an error.
  23. Good morning, Does the shape the future programme still run? Been asked to provide evidence of a license to a supplier. Our shape the future expired last year and doesn't seem like the system is still running? Is there an alternative? thanks
  24. Could I ask what model you went for to get this? Thanks
  25. This was a little eye opening, going to have to contact my provider. Had a play on a pupil test profile and gah! If you search Power ai NSFW in google and go on the power users link, there's quite a few options. I'd say about half are blocked on Netsweeper, one or two I seriously expected to be blocked due to the naming.. undressai for instance was accessible and had nsfw pics on my screen!
