Did the parent at least acknowledge their child had broken the laptop?

No - it was returned as "faulty". I didn't delve deeply into event viewer or anything like that, but it looked as if its prime use had been to play Roblox.

I put in a support ticket 10 days ago and another 6 days ago regarding 2 faulty Geobooks and haven't heard anything back. Very very frustrating.

So glad we got chromebooks :)

We got Windows machines from Dell, but ten of our 115 allocation were in boxes marked "Chromebook". Random.

I've found several of the DELL Windows 11" laptops need restarting about 3 times before they start to respond otherwise they are very sluggish. Others I've had were fine.

Just finished enrolling our Chromebooks. Had to do it at home as I am Isolating so front room is full of boxes! Very impressed with them though. HP units - dead simple to set up! I am also very pleased that went for these rather than the Win 10 option!

Just waiting for the Head to come and pick them up now...

I've just set up the Chromebooks at one site. They got Samsungs that seemed to not need (m)any updates, so pretty quick.

Still not as quick at the W10 machines at another site, which we left "as is" - so nothing for me to do.

We decided to install Office applications rather than eat data bandwidth with Office365 online, but other than that, we did nothing. This meant we managed to have a laptop ready for collection less than 20 minutes after it was approved!

Wondering if anyone has been successful with a request for more devices via the DFE request system? We are inundated with requests for devices and have given out everything the school has that can be used.

We did the same, also installed Google Chrome and Sophos A/V

I randomly on Friday got an email telling us we've been assigned another eight devices for one of our schools, I'd never applied for more, bit confused

Were those the Y12/13 ones? The schemes been extended to cover them so everyone got extra allowance (there should be another increase this week coming through too due to extended lockdowns)

Just had a HP 250 G7 returned to us, as it kept falling off the home wifi

Now in school for a look and the wireless driver is completely gone - and its locked down so i can't re-install it-- anyone else have this?
