As I work in a NHS Trust all staff, contractors, patients, visitors now have to wear masks

 

It got me thinking about the staggering amount just being chucked away, just staff alone - 4000 staff, having to replace the mask 2-3 times a day, 7 days in a week, 84,000 masks! (obviously not quite the reality as you wouldn't have 4000 staff working at the same time 7 days a week but still!)

We've heard nothing yet ourselves on this either.

There are three weeks left till the summer break.

The 1m rule doesn't kick it till a week on Saturday, leaving just two weeks left.

It's not going to happen. Parents won't bother, teachers will be furious that the goal posts have been moved again with so little time to prepare.

It's already been announced, and in play here.

This guidance has been updated to reflect the fact secondary schools can now welcome year 10 and year 12 pupils in for some face-to-face support. It also confirms that where possible, schools may invite pupils in other year groups in for a meeting this term.

 

We know that secondary schools are keen to invite pupils in other year groups in for a face-to-face meeting before the end of this term, where it would be beneficial. As long as this happens in line with this and wider protective measures guidance, and guidance on the numbers of pupils permitted on-site at any one time, we would encourage this where possible. This time can be used to check-in on pupils, and ensure they are supported before a return to school from September or moving into employment or the next stage of education.

Yes, my primary school (through governance) is planning to open up to Y5s for three weeks and planning to offer brief contact time for the remaining groups, including Sept. 2020 reception. No change expected for my sons secondary school though.

We have invited aeach year group in for one afternoon this week (Years 3 to 6, including the Y6 children not attending a "bubble") and we have Years 7 and 8 in next week, which is our last week of term.

Link: Bournemouth beach: 'Major incident' as thousands flock to coast [bBC news]

Sun-seekers have been urged to stay away from the beach as thousands flocked to the Dorset coast and a major incident was declared in Bournemouth.

 

Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council said it was "stretched to the absolute hilt" on the second day of a UK heatwave.

 

Dorset Police said there were reports of gridlocked roads, fights and overnight camping.

 

People were urged to "act responsibly" as temperatures hit the mid-20s.

 

By mid-morning Bournemouth beach was busy "as far as the eye can see" and the Durdle Door car park was approaching capacity...

 

There was a lot of talk of good old British 'common sense' earlier in the year. Not much of that about today, it seems.

We could be heading for problem in Liverpool as well

 

nothing to do with the weather - just the universe getting back onto the correct rails with Liverpool winning (FINALLY!!!) the Premier League - as is proper

 

so - naturally - loads of people gathered all over the place - especially around Anfied

I've spend too much time working from home with a remote link.

 

My office xeon workstation that I used to be happy with now seems slow and unresponsive compared to the i5-9600k with m.2 I have at home

 

now I'll have to get a better one from @ict_direct :heh:

As is proper? It's their first Premier League title!

Top flight title? Different matter. :p

 

Congrats to all Liverpool fans tho. Last 18 months or so they've easily been the best team in Europe.

The roads in the south look a lot saner today. MrsC went to Portsmouth to see a colleague, on the beach, for a socially distanced chat. Fine all morning, with people there, but all OK.

 

Once it got to lunchtime, pissed up yoof started arriving, they left as plod were gathering.

It may sound stupid, but there's a large part of me that thinks if we are going for a foreign holiday this year, it's going to be safer to pick a country with a "high" rate of infection, as you won't have millions of people visiting and ignoring every single social distancing rules going :p And probably in term will actually have less chance! (Normal spain/france/Italy etc is gonna get so bombarded I bet!)

TBH, I don't think anyone will be holidaying abroad until this is all over. Far to many stories of stranded tourists when it all kicked off and no one wants to be in that boat in a country that suddenly has a spike.

Aye, it's going to be a lot of hassle all over I think, especially considering things like Insurances won't cover anything CV related.

 

Thinking more down the UK day/overnight trips more, at least that way if somewhere it stupidly busy can just avoid it

I hope you're right, but I think you're under-estimating many people's sense of entitlement.
