pete Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Scuba diving? Local dive shops/training schools usually do "Try Diving" weekend sessions for a nominal* fee. Mostly pool-based, especially this time of year. *'cos if you like it they hope you'll do your qualifications with them.

For the record mine are Sidchrome "You Canna Hand a Man a Grander Spanner" and some Stanley like my Yankee pump screwdriver. Still going strong after 50 years. I've got a couple of my Dads which are older.
mikeprice Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 There used to be a place where you could buy a goat for a remote village in someone's name or you could adopt an endangered frog for him (other animals are available - but that was funniest) or name a star after him can you still buy a square meter of the Moon - I think someone was doing that at one point - however the actual ability to sell it in the first places seemed a bit dodgy and while we are on it - what on Earth can I buy my wife???

I did a morning driving a diesel train at the Avon Valley Railway earlier this year and it was fantastic.

Canal barge good too, and a vintage flight from Compton Abbas worth a look The problem with most of the ideas is that they are either far too expensive, or they are too expensive for the amount of interest he has in them. He's done a parachute jump, he's not interested in trains as far as I know. DIY isn't something that moves him. He's done a bit over the years - as you do when bringing up a family - but I dont think it would ever be his choice. Present him with a fully fitted out workroom with metal and wood lathes etc, yes, he might like that - but that isnt going to happen anytime soon (shame really because I'd like that too). The altruistic presents - we do that sort of thing all year round and so as a Christmas present - not so much. He's done flyboarding and we have both done the titan zipwire in Wales - now that was fun! Food - er - mrwITch eats red meat and potatoes, and I'm veggie/vegan. So restaurants aren't really our thing. Neither of us cares much about food anyway. Thanks all though - keep the ideas coming please Edited December 3, 2019 by witch
