So it looks like transparent proxy is achievable with Netsweeper.

https://www.empsn.org.uk/2018/05/03/netsweeper-bring-in-transparent-filtering/

Is this something SchoolsBroadband are going to implement?

The standard Netsweeper transparent solution does not work in our environment. The reason being is that we have numerous schools that have the same internal IP address range and Netsweeper in its current form can't support this requirement.

As indicated though we are looking into a number of options at the moment to give our customers what they are asking for (Google Auth integration, Radius support and other features).

Please watch this space on further update developments some of which I'm hoping I can divulge in the next few weeks depending on results of alpha / beta testing. I do not want to categorically confirm any solution until its fully tested as I don't want to set expectations incorrectly.

I'm hopeful we will have a worlds 1st with our Netsweeper solution coming very soon so again watch this space :)

Anyone else keep getting battered by the Google Captcha screen saying your school is doing too many google search requests? Yesterday, wouldn't even come up with the picture we had done that many. Nothing has changed usage wise. It's getting really frustrating as we are a G Suite school.

Yep we are getting this all the time and it is getting a bit annoying, i have contacted SB and they have said they cannot do anything about it but are working with Google

Never use to happen when we were on lightspeed though

When we contacted SB last week we had the same response. Not sure how long this is going to take to resolve.

I am having to cancel a whole school training event tonight because its using Google Forms and it wont load them without the captcha warning and asking for about 5 image checks per user which is just not going to work!

Breach of SLA?

Afternoon all,

Just to confirm, this has been raised with Google (to the best of our ability) as our proxy IPs should be on their whitelists. It looks like something at their end has changed.

I will update you all when I have any news and in the meantime can only apologise for the inconvenience

Thanks

It's not really SchoolsBroadband's fault. Many large organisations, ISPs, schools/universities have this problem because Google can be overzealous or change random stuff without telling anyone. If anything it's Google's fault.

Have to agree with this, I'm not a SB customer and have been having the same google issues for several weeks.

Lots of juicy features :)

The biggest is Googleauth and proper LDAP integration (no more dir sync).

There's also a lot more to come over the summer too :)

More importantly (I have emailed Carole btw) is it going to work for the remaining week that our students are in and are we going to have to make any changes (thinking authportal) after the works

Everything should stay as is and your auth portal will continue to function.

The upgrade puts us in good stead for more major work we're doing in the summer where we'll be rolling out a new major configuration option for schools (new and old)

thanks

Morning all,

the upgrade to v6 went through fine on Wednesday evening. There's a nicer front end and a number of new features in there for you all to get stuck into :)

Thanks

Dave

Will Schools get told what the new features are and how to use them?

When will there be news on what has been worked on over Summer?
