Wubbalubbadub Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 May as well help each other in here... My issue is to do with single sign on. On our Windows 7 clients the students when they go to the readingcloud site it knows who they are and auto logs them in. It's not working under Windows 10 - does anyone know where I might look for why this is? There is a GPO which is being read by both OS's...this sets the zone assignments for IE I had this, and it turned out to be that we didn’t have .net 3.5 installed on the win 10 clients.
mullet_man Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 If you have the case number, tweet to them. Give it a frw days though. They will set uo the email settings for yiu so you can send out reminders and lates to students. We even have some staff who are returning books. If you are firm with MLS without getting too arsey, they will come back to you via twitter. I can't remember if being AD linked pucks up the email address, i don't think it does as my tech had to update records that didn't have email addresses. We imported users at the start of the year with email addresses. Thanks. I've received an email now to confirm my ticket is in the system but nothing as yet. I'll give it till early next week and then try the twitter or just ring and stay on hold method. Thanks again. Stevo.
kennysarmy Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I had this, and it turned out to be that we didn’t have .net 3.5 installed on the win 10 clients. Already installed I'm afraid, but thanks for the help.
Obee1 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hey everyone. Can see lots of people having multiple issues with Eclipse and MLS Support. We have always had a bit of a rocky road with performance and support. Since moving to HTML5 the performance has got worse, and particularly since the summer this has got progressively worse to the point now where it's virtually unusable in the Management module. I realise that they're moving to a new platform and that this is supposed to be counteracting the performances issues, however it seems that this has got worse before its getting any better. I am going t catch up with them at the BETT show this week to discuss further, but id be interested to know how many other schools are being affected by this issue?
synaesthesia Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Just about everyone is affected, it's more of a matter of who is patient about it. From the sounds of it, most librarians going to BETT are going with the sole purpose of finding something to replace MLS's shoddy offering.
Accura2k7 Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 MLS Stand: B190 At BETT this year apparently.... Poor so and so's who get to man their stand!
kennysarmy Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 That's two weeks since my call was logged and I've heard nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
clareq Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I tweeted them on Friday afternoon. My issue, which I opened in October, was fixed by Monday lunchtime.
Poults Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Has anyone seen this error? Logging into microlibrarian (hosted) and then clicking circulate, when i scan a fingerprint it brings up this number string rather than the user. Have freshly installed the database on another computer and get the same issue, all seems to have happened since the Christmas holidays. Thanks.
kennysarmy Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 12 working days since I opened my call, no response apart from their standard reply!
mikkydoos Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I'm holding back on paying their renewal invoice. They I need to read their SLA. They must be in violation. They're going bust. Capita have further ruined an already terrible product.
synaesthesia Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 OK, so now MLS are telling their customers to whitelist their websites in their anti-virus systems, specifically AV script protections. So what happens when their site is compromised? As part of Capita, that's quite likely. They therefore are opening up their customers to all sorts of problems.
Boredguy Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Well I'm not making any changes unless our librarians can tell me it's having a problem. So far I've had the whitelist sent through 3 times but never with anything to say something won't load.
mikkydoos Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Did anyone go and give MLS a thumping at Bett ?
LeMarchand Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Did anyone go and give MLS a thumping at Bett ? And if not, why not?
kennysarmy Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 And if not, why not? Why thump? Just migrate to another platform...that's what we're planning on doing.
mikkydoos Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 They need duffing up for the hassle, pain, money.. I moving too but they still need a slap.... read above @kennysarmy Do you Eclipse users get the same problems as the JL platform ??
Katy Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Did anyone go and give MLS a thumping at Bett ? Someone tried (it's on another thread somewhere) and they got told it was their fault that it's rubbish, kinda backfired. Edit: Here it is http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/191081-mls-eclipse-replacement-accessitlibrary.html#post1645392 Edited January 30, 2018 by Katy
Accura2k7 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I went to look at SIMS Primary and SIMS Finance. An orange shirted guy came over and i clocked MLS, he goes you know us? I was like yep, not a chance and walked off....
DarkenRahl Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Did anyone find anything useful as an alternative to MLS in a secondary? We have had issues ourselves and the support is terrible. Hours on the phone waiting or never getting a response via email. When i got through on the phone a week or so ago the engineer was extremely difficult to deal with and you could tell he was jaded and wanted to blame all of the issues on us to get rid of the problem. Wouldn't let me get a word in and then had the cheek to say i wouldn't let him speak!! When i tried to go through my actions step by step he kept stopping me to argue that the product does not work with Chrome. It took 5 minutes of frustration before he let me explain i was only trying it as a test but that had not worked for obvious reasons so i reverted back to IE. Currently i have to run the machine with full local admin rights as one of their exe files has to be loaded to work with fingerprint devices and it just will not load with elevated permissions or run as a service. They failed to help me at all, just pointed the blame. Oh and then failed to call be back at 2pm as agreed.
gumbygaz Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 We've had a change of librarian just as our MLS contract was about to expire, tried to see if they'd switch to accessitlibrary.com (as was the plan with the previous Librarian) but they felt it would have been too much too soon, so they've ended up renewing with MLS and update to the Reading cloud.... Time will tell, don't know much about the reading cloud bit, whether it's on a different server/faster but it's still very slow now even with whitelisting sites on Smoothwall. Would love to have a video demo of how quick the system runs for them? How fast is it supposed to be.
Joanne Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I get that Cloud-sentry thing popping up for about 7 seconds before it loads the site.
kennysarmy Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I get that Cloud-sentry thing popping up for about 7 seconds before it loads the site. Same, presume that's normal? 1
Joanne Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 think so. Guess the security has been upped because of GDPR.
