Microsoft Office license changes for non profit/charity
Accura2k7 replied to mikeprice's topic in Office Software
Yes its a downgrade, they want you to pay for the applications, the cloud versions remain free. It is a bit of a problem as alot of charities, especially the smaller ones simply cant afford it. -
Ruijie Networks, some clever stuff on their platform.

Honestly, found a few good options, network company ive never heard of that provided some right out there product and options that would rival Aruba and Ubiqueti. Company selling rugged cases for Chromebooks. If I find 1 new thing that catches my eye, i call it a win!

Used them at a previous role a few years back with exactly the same issues, its heavily reliant on wifi strength, internet speed and equipment being used. If any of those are on the low side it plays up massively! I once spent a whole week on lunch times tethering the tablets through my phone to prove the point. I dont believe their platform is overly optimised for the amount of data it pulls down, i did suggest that the tablets cache the info looking for updates only but evidently this never took hold.

Depends what you want access to really. We have EE TV at home, all the freeview channels with recording function and all the streaming services on the box available (Although I use my Chromecast for voice control as its easier for that. Maybe look at Freeview boxes if thats the way you want to go.

Assuming you are using Chrome Enterprise and not the standard end user edition?

DirectPrint here, nice fast interface, integrates with Google and Microsoft. Just deploy the msi and it sets up the printer for you.

My understanding is that Photoshop online is not covered by the standard licensing for Education. Photoshop online is IIRC £2 a user minimum 2000 users purchase quantity...

EntrySign is expensive, charged per device not site licened. Go with SigninApp, we have now at several sites when their EntrySign or Invenjry contracts became due.

The Murder Bot series, totally loved this! Currently on Red Rising series.

RMM Solutions - NinjaRMM, ManageEngine?
Accura2k7 replied to TJ7's topic in Network and Classroom Management
No, Ninja is a management tool with remote access, monitoring and although does have limited app deployment capabilities its not its core function. PDQ Cloud is pretty good for OTA deployments and some locking down options, but really you need a MDM solution for the bigger stuff. -
RMM Solutions - NinjaRMM, ManageEngine?

Been using Ninja for around 2 years now, love it, works every time especially their remote access platform. -

We use SignInApp for visitor and staff management at a couple of my sites now. Not expensive and runs from iPads.

Clearing out the stock room getting rid of unused kit. I have a quantity of Promethean Pens, some new by the looks of it. We have no use for these, so if any schools want them, you are welcome to come grab them all in one go from us if they will help you with some aging kit. This is to help out our school colleagues, not for someone to profit off. We are based in Bexleyheath.

Bounce one through a hotspot, issue goes away, filtering/firewall, stays its device. We worked closely with Google on this, i wasnt involved in the end result though.

We had this, its a firewall/filtering issue. I wasnt involved in the fix though, just figuring out exactly what was going on.

netsweeper and EISNET network
Accura2k7 replied to martinpage23's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Martin, Can I suggest you set a GPO to run the client using task scheduler after login/delayed start. This wont break eisnet and should do the trick. -
only advise i would say is coverage is not the same as bandwidth.

Some iPads can join Wifi network, some can't
Accura2k7 replied to Sonic007's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Try resetting the network settings on the device. -
What words do you (or someone you know) say incorrectly...?

The Wife calls it a Chimley not a Chimney... She aggressively defends her way is correct!
