ChrisERoots Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Following some mess ups and miscommunication with BT over our SIP connection. We can't use their services without using a PRI card in our PBX and now it looks likely we need a new supplier. Does anybody have any recommendations of a supplier who could deliver native SIP in a very short timescale?

Does anybody have any recommendations of a supplier who could deliver native SIP in a very short timescale? We ended up in a similar situation - after a year of waiting for BT, we discovered we needed extra (expensive) equipment necessary to make it all work. We decided instead to use Trilan-IT, a reseller for gamma tel. No extra equipment necessary and much cheaper than BT. We can't believe how cheap it is for our lines and calls now! Edit: If you are interested, I can PM contact details. Meldrew Edited August 10, 2017 by Meldrew 2

Just out of interest, how were BT with settling/ending the contract. We've obviously signed up and got to the stage of provisioning the actual equipment. The only part that wasn't asked for from me was the model of our box to actually determine if it would work and now obviously it can't.
Meldrew Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 We've used Trilan for years. Always seem to be very competitive on pricing and super helpful. I don't remember any problems regarding the contract with BT to be honest, although my colleague dealt with it mostly. We must have signed the contract for SIP as it was in BT's system on hold for a year while they made excuse after excuse about what was happening with it (mostly 'with the SIP team' who you can't talk to). Then finally it was 'you need this £800 box' to make it work at which point we bailed. Meldrew
SchoolsBroadband Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Hi @ChrisERoots, we can provide a SIP channel in a matter of minutes whether on-net or off-net from our network. We can either terminate a SIP trunk onto your existing PBX (if compatible) or onto a VoIP gateway similar to BT depending on your setup. Do send me a PM and I'll give you a call straight away if you like? Thanks Dave 1

BT SIP is very picky about what devices you can connect on the end of it. Gamma seems to be a good supplier though I only got to the research phase before the money ran out! 1
john Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I think @john has had similar problems.. BT SIP is very picky about what devices you can connect on the end of it. Gamma seems to be a good supplier though I only got to the research phase before the money ran out! BT Wholesale last gen platform / previous gen platform was only X,Y, or Z can be connected, but the next gen platform that came out this year I believe is less fussy so will take more but they still don't have things like Asterisk on the supported list! However unlike the last gen / previous platform this new one doesn't actually block devices it doesn't like where-as the last gen platform actively blocked none approved devices. It felt like going back to the days of the green BABT approved sticker!! - See this blog - BT Business SIP Trunk and Asterisk PBX – Part I – The commercial wrangle – Mike Tubby B.Sc. G8TIC for more reading on that and the bloggers experiments. In research I've done for SIP, Gamma is for sure one to look at they are big for a reason, not the cheapest offering, but from talking to users they seem to be highly recommended (and seen several on here recommend them) but I don't have first hand experience of them but a colleague does and he very much rated them in his previous employment. 1
localzuk Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 We use Voip unlimited. They've been good for us. 1
Geoff Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 We are using Gamma, we've only had it a month but it's been fine so far.
mukz Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 +1 for gamma, although we are not directly with them, they offer help with whatever they can without having to talk to our reseller as they actually hold the answers. 1
Edu-IT Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I think we use Gamma through @SchoolsBroadband and its been fine so far. 1
psumner1992 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Another one for Gamma as a direct customer. Been with them for just over a month and very impressed. Support and sales teams are both very good and cost is extremely low. Very easy to increase number of Trunks required simply by phoning or emailing.
Blue_Cookeh Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 We use Gamma through @Millgate as of early last year. Would highly recommend 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 (edited) Gamma really were pioneers in SIP trunking and hosted VoIP brining a stable solution to the mass market. Dave Edited August 13, 2017 by elsiegee40 1
ChrisERoots Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Thanks for the feedback everyone. Managed to get things with BT sorted. I'll be giving Gamma a call to get some prices.
TechMonkey Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Thanks for the feedback everyone. Managed to get things with BT sorted. I'll be giving Gamma a call to get some prices. Incase you need a second quote we use OrbTalk. No issues and very helpful.
Geoff Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I have used OrbTalk in the past too any they offer an excellent service. I found Gamma to be cheaper and not quite up to the same service level. You get what you pay for I suppose. YMMV 1
nathan Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I've just signed up to Gamma, just waiting for a number to port from Skype (Didn't even know you could do this)
cpjitservices Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 3CX is now offering TalkTalk business as a trunk provider.
Wave9_Lee Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I'd be happy to quote for SIP or hosted voice. We could get you up and running within days if needed. regards Lee
Accura2k7 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 We're with Gamma, have been since September with no issues at all.
