Helpdesk recommendations to replace Jira Service Management?
mukz replied to Shaun_Dark_Lord's topic in Cloud Services
sure, please do - but i must stress that it is not ready for other schools to use yet as i need to clean up alot of the code and tighten up the security before i can share a working version. -

We are building our own IT Help desk unique to our needs but have built in functionality to onboard schools if some of our neighbours schools wants to use it. Currently has a helpdesk with trackable assets, a loan system which is integrated into a full asset management system and a form module for parents who sign for responsibility of the laptops away from school. It is currently has standalone and M365 integration. Users can be synced from Bromcom as we use that in our consortium. We are nowhere near a fully finished product yet but its been working well for us. Will be happy to share a trial for any schools who want to use it once we have finished. (We 3 techs are building it in our own time so its taking a little longer than we had hoped) -
We had them, although we swapped everything for Net2 plus controllers as the battery swapping became too much for Site for 110 doors. We had issues with the ones whereby the carpenters did not install them properly. Other than that, no issues with them
-
We have the 2-in-1's and do not seem to have this issue. although i will double check for you tomorrow.
-
We have it working here but depending on your use case i would not do it again - its just an additional overhead. We have had it for a few years now.

@garethedmondson is this now working for you? we have an issue with ipxe anywhere (essentially pxe boot works, then just get errors once its passed over to ipxe anywhere)
-
have you managed to fix this?
-
I use them for my own personal IT Company. They are great for me
-
it depends, if you just want the basics, bromcoms offering allows just that, if you want to customise stuff then Locker and Salamander is the way to go. We use Salamander - they have heavily customised our setup for us and more often than not its config changes within the same day.

@Patrick what manufacturer are the printers? adding a printer is easy, its the driver part where it takes some testing.
-
Paxton if installed correctly just works. NB: Although i work for a school i own my own company doing Security/AV/IT and Paxton is all we install for schools. as mentioned above, you will also need to think about getting fire relays for your escape routes as relying on the software alone is not regs.

For Shared Devices, there is shared policy with KFM and one without. For the papercut, we have a single follow me print queue so use print deploy for that. For the 1-2-1 printers, i have a script which i package up to install the driver and then add the printer to each user who logs into the device. for Edge sync, double check you have no profile conflicts, thats the single biggest thing which causes issues and is often overlooked. Please PM me if you need any help and il try to help where i can.
