All broke within a few weeks of buying them. Oaktech Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 We've got about 50 pairs of them and I've replaced 12 in 3 years. So I'm pretty happy with them. The only issues I've seen with them in normal use is twisting the cable repeatedly breaks the fabric cover. The only time kids have been able to break them deliberately has been standing on the cable and yanking the headphones to rip the cables out.

I'm surprised by that. My kids both have a pair of these at home, and we've had a 100% break rate in a year. Possibly 150% because I've had to mend one pair twice! One pair has now been written off, but the twice repaired set are still working, albeit with a new cable.

The red covers do come off but you can order more separately, but they don't come off accidentally so if someone does do one the teacher should rollick them. Had them at a previous school and here and they just keep going.

We have a couple of sets of TTS USB headphones: Buy USB Computer Headphones with Microphone | TTS They are very good for smaller children - you can replace the ear pads, they use standard USB cables and take a fair bit of chukcing around. They are a little bit expensive, though, and older children / adults find them a bit small.
mikeprice Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 We got some of these a couple of terms ago - they seem pretty good so far I like the fact that the cable can be replaced - it also means that when the kids move suddenly away from the computer the cable tends to come out of the headphones rather than break something

localzuk Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 We're another Hills user here. We've got 60+ pairs of them. I've had 3 pairs die in 3 years. Sure, most have lost the red bits, but that's the kids own fault so they can just live with some discomfort...

The Hills sound popular, so I just gave them a call for prices. Only £5 a go! I'm recommending these. Only snag is they're out of stock til mid-November.
antlear Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Having purchased a variety over the years I have found the Numark HF125 https://www.numark.com/product/hf125 to be really robust. on many of the ones already linked to i have found that the cable coming out of the headphones becomes faulty. You can pick the Numark up fairly cheap in bulk and they do last.

The last lot I got had longish cables and they just ended up trailing on the floor - then a wheel would go over them - it would get tangled and then it went horribly wrong our current ones are these Buy Easi-Headphones® | TTS short cable which can be replaced easily = which also means it pulls out it the kids runs off with headphones on (which they do cos they're kids)

They've done us good in the past. But they've been out of stock since at least February, and aren't showing in stock until the end of June, and that date has slipped already. INCONVENIENT. So anyone know of any good alternatives? These are for secondary school use (so the TTS ones look a little small) in the MFL department, so they need a boom mic (inline mics are no good as there are 30 in the class, so they don't pick up cleanly enough compared to a boom mic). Hopefully less than a tenner a pair, though that looks pretty difficult :/

I purchased one set to test if they would survive and they do! I've always opted for thick headband types as they seem to last a lot longer and are harder to loose.

hallb15 Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 We've got 5 sets of those Dynamode ones from ebuyer. 3 of them have broken boom mics - they just snap internally so they swing freely and don't stay in position. Then a couple of lessons later they fall out completely. We've had ours about 4 months but don't use the mics so I'm not bothered. The headphone themselves work fine and seem more robust, its just the mics that are flimsy. 1
