Garacesh Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 Protip: Avoid nuclear disaster zones when looking for Pokemon Pokémon Go players urged not to venture into Fukushima disaster zone Well where else am I going to find Grimer/Muk?
sted Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 How long did that pidgeotto last? I'm tempted to go find some gyms in villages near me, figure they will be a lot easier to take over. Haha just seen the magikarp too not very long i just wanted to see what gym battles were like tbh and hopefully get some coins. I also wasnt sure what happened to it when you left it there but it arrived battered in my list the same night (i wasnt sure i wanted to leave anything decent there incase you diddnt get them back or id of left my syther or vaporean probably and after all that i dont seem to of gained any coins lol - - - Updated - - - Well where else am I going to find Grimer/Muk? chernobyl and its closer lol

You can do this once every 22 hours. Your pokemon earn coins every time they successfully defend (but you can claim immediately for a free 10), however, you can only claim whilst the pokemon are in the gym. Presumably this makes it a gamble between potentially collecting early and missing out, or leaving it too late and getting kicked off the gym.
v4learning Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I've just got to level 12...Yesterday I made the mistake of letting my 2.5 year old look at my Pokemon = no balls left!! he did catch a Pidgy though!
DanTheLacky Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Haha, I'm still waiting for the day I can do that, but I've decided I'm not going to bother taking on gyms until I've levelled up some more. I've nearly hit 30 'mons, so I'm almost halfway there to my mass-lucky-egg-evolution target. The Magikarp idea definitely needs to catch on. It's not about winning, it's about sending a message. I did 42 the other day and still had 10 minutes left on my lucky egg, so make sure you get to like 60 =) I've just got to level 12...Yesterday I made the mistake of letting my 2.5 year old look at my Pokemon = no balls left!! he did catch a Pidgy though! Cant be any worse than me, I feel like im getting somewhere when I started throwing a few good shots, then I will randomly chuck about 10 balls in a row right off the screen, or over the mons head, or casually roll it upto them. 1

I did the same at lunch time, then the little blighters legged it!!!
Garacesh Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 I did 42 the other day and still had 10 minutes left on my lucky egg, so make sure you get to like 60 =) 60 is actually my target. I figure 30 seconds per evolution is a reasonable estimate. Need another mass-lure event, though.. Had one in Manchester over the weekend. Picadilly Gardens, 4 pokestops constantly lured. Much catchings were had.
DanTheLacky Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I haven't actually stopped anywhere that is lured yet. Did get my first dratini last night whilst walking through a couple of places that was Lured.
Geoff Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Local pub is running a promo tonight and luring the pokestop that's there.
hardtailstar Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Went out with a friend tonight. Caught hundreds of pidgeys.... Hatched a Diglet, caught a Tentacool too.
thimon Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Activated a lucky egg on the way to work this morning, by the time I got to work, 35000XP gained! Now only halfway to level 24
DanTheLacky Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Local pub is running a promo tonight and luring the pokestop that's there. My friend runs a game shop (Its kind of old school games and consoles mainly and they do alot of dungeons and dragon type events in the evenings / weekends), they advertised they had wifi, charge points and lures. They aren't a pokestop unfortunately but they are in the town so close enough to another stop they can leach off of haha. I don't know if it was here that I read it, but some pizza place in America ran a similar promo with the lures and their profits went up 75% for the opening weekend. This isn't where I original read the story but it has the details Gotta catch 'em all: Pokemon Go is boosting business for restaurants
CAM Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 East Grinstead is a nice spot to go hunting. The High Street is lined with Pokestops using lures and you can get in range of multiple ones at the same time.
AlfaTech Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) There was a PKMN lure party at Bristol Zoo last night till they reached capacity and had to turn people away. There's another lure party in Bristol, so far 500+ people have said that they're going. This phenomenon is pretty insane. Edited July 28, 2016 by AlfaTech

LeMarchand Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 This is getting out of hand Parents are naming their children after Pokemon Go characters - BBC Newsbeat #5 could also be Gotham/Batman - (Poison) Ivy #6 Evil Dead #7 Different spelling (since when has that ever mattered to some parents?) but basically the same name as Tyrion's ...erm, lady of easy virtue from GoT.
Garacesh Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) This is getting out of hand Parents are naming their children after Pokemon Go characters - BBC Newsbeat To be fair, Roselia, Ash and Eevee are all reasonable names. Onyx less so, but then again, the pokemon is named after the mineral, and plenty of other names are after objects (mostly flowers though..) Thinking on it, I actually really like the sound of Roselia as a name. Plus, you have Rose as shorthand, which is also a nice name (and lets you do the typical parent thing of yelling their full name to let them know they're really in trouble ) Edited July 28, 2016 by Garacesh
AlfaTech Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I've known of a couple of lasses called Char, but I think that's totally unrelated to PKMN
AlfaTech Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Damn! Wish I had known about that Actually in hindsight it probably just as well you hadn't Bristol Zoo forced to turn people away as 2,000 attend Pokemon Go lure party
