I've only just realised that you get gold and stardust every time your Pokemon successfully defends a gym. I thought you only got that if it had been in the gym for 20 hours. Will be attacking more gyms now!

Dragonaire appeared today, berry and masterball used, then freezes on capture, wait ages, reboot, has gone and I didn't capture it!!!

This calculator will allow you to determine how many evolutions you can get from each Pokémon type. Simply select the Pokémon type(s) by clicking on the images at the top and input the number of candies and quantity of Pokémon you have.

 

For optimal results, you should use a Lucky Egg to double the amount of XP gained. This calculator assumes you are using a Lucky Egg by default. To disable this, toggle it off in the Advanced Options panel.

i think ive given up with it. Caught all the species i have seen bar one (shelder) and without the step counter working thats effectively 100% pot luck. Dont need any more pidgey/weedle/ratattas and local gyms pokemon have 2-3 time my cp so even with type advantage im screwed. Might have another look if/when any updates happen but for now there is almost nothing there for me diddint help that one of the 2 10k eggs i hatched was an eevee which isnt uncommon enough to be worth it the syther was appreciated though.

Keep catching the pidgeys to boost your xp to keep leveling up to take on the gyms?

 

I did fall a little flat with the game towards the middle of last week but having tried again I've now worked out the importance of a pidgeys lol

I've had a period of stability which has allowed me to hit level 6. I'm resorting to catching as many Pidgies as I can and evolving them for 500XP a time. I've also caught a Pidgeot and keeping him near the power cap for my level so I can steal a gym or two if needed.

 

I also have two gyms just in viewing distance of my house, so was amusing watching a late night gym war break out yesterday.

 

Sadly bugs are coming back. Lost two catches, an egg hatch and a Pidgeotto went into digital oblivion as a transfer failed due to signal cutting out. They need to get a hand on these problems, if you lose signal the app lags to hell and freezes even when doing something as basic as scrolling.

i have 143 pidgey candy and ~26000 stardust already. managed to get to level 10 but im just losing interest when all i get is the some pokemon ive already caught loads of. atm i just want bulbasaur and pikachu but ive yet to see a single elecric type aorund and judging from whats in gyms nobody else here has so i managed to evolve a jolteon whos now my highest cp mon

Niantic announced at Comic Con the game is only like 10% complete. They're working on adding PvP battles, trading and a lot more. \o/

Level 8, sadly don't have the time to even keep up with half the strength others have in the Gyms. My highest CP is around 350, the Gyms seem to have up to 2000.

 

Problem is game requires signal, walking around and areas that have decent pokemon. Catching the same few takes forever for a level....

Yeah CP is capped by your level. If you do the lucky egg + evolve trick then you can zoom ahead on levels. But why rush?

Yeah as previously stated earlier by doing this with 40 odd pokemon earlier I went up 42k xp (level 12 to level 15), I would save up like 60 odd pokemon to evolve then use a lucky egg as I had 10 minutes left, or do it somewhere you can catch or hatch a load of pokemon. Its all about the lucky eggs, there isnt that many starter pokemon in the wild but you get pikachu, bulbasaur etc from the 2k eggs, which is about 20 minutes of walking.

There is a new local spot where everyone is going now and it is pretty crazy seeing 50+ people all in one place playing the game. With so many people there the two spots have constant lures going.

 

Figured out that using multiple lures on stops that overlap is not a good thing as you just get a million common pokemon spawning. If you can get 2 or 3 stops close enough together that you can access them all but far enough apart that they overlap you get a load of new stuff spawning. Also found a nest of Dratini not too far away (my nephew caught about 30 in a couple of hours).

 

Also if anyone has issues with lures or incense not working check that the time on your phone is set to use network time. The time on my other halfs phone was a couple of minutes out and it caused some really weird issues in the game.

i dont think the distance is acurate at all i did a lap of what i know to be a 1500m ish walk and i diddnt add anywhere near 1500m to my eggs did about half a lap and it had added 300m

You have to leave the app open in your pocket for it to count distance. Also, you if you had connection drop-outs the GPS will catch up and count distance as the crow flies (bad on circular routes if you have a drop out at a corner).

i as using the app with the screen on so it shouldnt be dropping out much
