I really really want a series 1 Citroen CX GTI.

It's a strange and singular affliction, and I should probably get help.

That is quite an odd choice but they are in interesting car. One of my neighbors used to have one. I remember one day they took it on a ferry to France and couldn't get off the other end because the hydraulics on the suspension had failed and when they tried to drive off the ramp it ground out at the top and got stuck.

My mum had one of these when I was a kid, I was amazed how the wheel arches covered the wheels and then moved up when the car started!

Yeah, they were awful when they were new! The pipes failed, the pumps failed, the control valve manifolds got stuck... Technology has come a long way and what Citroen did is now much better understood.

I have a friend who has a mint condition BX GTI and we replaced the whole suspension on his at 280,000 miles. It took all weekend, but most parts are available from specialists and the stuff that isn't great still (mainly the flexible hoses) is available from people like hyphose. The whole job cost £1500.

Had 3 Capris - each of which would regularly try to take me off the road at bends, until I added a metal plate in the boot to provide some stability.

Had 2 Cortinas - did the job.

Had 2 Sierras - 1 of which was a nice Cossy, but which was wasted on our roads

These days I'm perfectly happy with my 5-year-old Mondeo...though I have to say the most comfortable car to drive, by far, was my Rover 600.

I'd have a Nissan GTR as a daily driver or possibly a Audi RS6, the Mrs wants an R8 but I'm not a fan of them, I'd rather have a 911 GT3 RS

My dream cars.

Defender LWB V8

It needs some work, but I've got one of them on my drive. My mate abandoned it there 2 years ago after a coming together with a tree and has now had a family! Wanna buy it?

Good thing I only drive about 2,00/3,000 miles a year as I walk to work and most places

I get my cars serviced once a year anyway.

I have very little interest in cars, but Mrs Tonnixx owned a 1970s Datsun 280Z before she met me. Google it. I'm sure you'll find their looks most agreeable.

She sold it for peanuts and the bloke who bought it said it was a cracker. I bet it was.
