Hello lovely peeps

I've been asked to investigate software that could be used to broadcast a message on all the teacher/staff logged in computers in the domain (ideally also the non domain byod teacher devices). I'm assuming it will have to be both a system tray app and a ios app communicatable from the same system but the important bit first would be the windows domain part. (If we can't do the latter then we can't do it)

Do any of you have anything that you would recommend? We've already decided against just reenabling the messenger service (if it even still exists). Free would be good but if it costs it would be handy if it had some extra features as well.

thanks

We have a small program that runs on all PCs which does things like USB Removal checking on logoff etc

So inside it I added a small TCP listener with set of commands, I can very easily send specific targeted messages to certain people, groups or computers - pretty simple really.

(This isn't something to recommend as a closed software to install but if you fancy a code challenge, do it!)

How much roughly was this Chris. I cant find the price on there website, and the last time I talked to net support they just bombarded me with calls

I'd be quite interested in rough pricing as well - it does seem like it is exactly what we want. Net support do like their year-long weekly follow up calls on any enquiry

The messaging system on Impero does well enough for me...

My manager doesn't like Impero. He thought it was overpriced for what it does and awkward to use. I've never used it so I can't really comment

We use LAN Messenger at a couple of my schools - LAN Messenger - Home - It's a freebie, but works like a stripped down MSN, so if the teachers so wished they can send messages too...

Works quite well, as the office / head etc can send messages to everyone / a particular class and the teachers can reply. Not really had anyone abusing it either.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but this is exactly what i'm looking for. We currently use a VB script which somebody who has long left our college wrote. It allows us to send a message to either staff, students or both but this has become more and more temperamental since we upgraded to Windows 10. We use it as a quick way to communicate information such as printing is offline etc to try and stop our helpdesk getting bombarded. Can anyone give an example of what they use? Ideally it would be free and only allow the receiving of messages. We are a predominantly Windows 10 desktop AD controlled domain with a few Mac classrooms. Thanks

I am interested in this too. We are also looking at a messaging software. Any information will be helpful.
