Sure, if that fails to work are you able to set permissions on the directory? i.e. "Everyone" to "Deny" ? I tried this and it works as the executable is inside that folder and the folder cannot be accessed once deny permission is set.

This should work, I was using a MS10ENT Evaluation VM to test but I believe PRO still has the required tools to block this application (see screenshot)

Security policy and block the executable? You cannot use Applocker but you should be able to use a Security Policy with either executable hash or path rule.

Could you try an older O/S such as Win7 to see if it still has the issue? This would at least rule out if it's a Win10 issue.

I would be asking questions about security and what measures would be in place to protect against a leak.

This makes sense as windows 10 is SAAS so I suppose they need to make money this way to fund development, security improvements etc.

Is anyone still using Access databases? If so what do you use it for?, just wondering if these still get used or not.

They should just make 2 editions Pro and Home. Those days were so much easier. That or just produce a single edition that has everything.

The place where I worked used 6320's and 30's and they were pretty decent. All were covered under extended warranties and Dell support were really quick. I agree that Dell has better build quality. I have had experience with both and will recommend Dell to people in the future. I really like the newer XPS line but it's slightly more expensive. I left her alone to look at all the other computers without my influence, when I came back she was standing at the Macbook Air lineup. She has seen me using mine which has travelled well (now 2 years old) and never had an issue. I guess theres so little in it now between what they can do, pricing etc (for the mid-range).

So I was asked by my partner to select her a laptop, she had been debating what to get and her budget was 1k. I decided to recommend the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 from John Lewis. It was light, had a really nice display and seemed to fit the bill perfectly, most importantly it was slightly under budget. 2 months passed without any issues. She had been lightly using it, it has not left the house. She had used it maybe 20 times in those two months for job applications, word processing etc. Then two nights ago we were looking for a holiday this weekend and the laptop switches off mid-browsing. No warning, plugged in, no noise. Nothing!!! I charged it all night thinking it may be a battery issue, still nothing! So we take it back to John Lewis who direct us to the computer repair dept. We wait and see a chap who says that the laptop will have to go away for repair (he diagnoses a motherboard issue). The problem is she needs the laptop now, but they won't replace it on the spot so I ask to speak to a department manager (they have more power). We speak to the manager and he again starts stating policy, apparently the law changed late last year, ultimately John Lewis will send the laptop away for repair but they will not refund it unless you return it within 28 days or it has been away for repair 2 times to the manufacturer. What happens next is they start the process. My partner is very upset so while they are prepping the laptop for return I ask someone in a different department for the store manager. After about an hour, they agree to refund the purchase. I have always been a fan of John Lewis and Lenovo but ultimately she will now buy a Mac from the Apple Store. The last place I worked had an order for 500 Lenovo’s most of which had motherboard issues. I still recommended the brand as this is likely to have been a one-off, but now I wonder. Maybe we were just unlucky but I think maybe Lenovo have lost it! One thing is for sure, I won’t be recommending them anymore.

CryptoClient - A front end for the GNUPG framework. Hi All, I have created a small piece of software which can encrypt and decrypt email attachments (GPG files). It is something that I am thinking of releasing, for free (we all like free software). This could solve some people data protection issues etc and the task of setting up a full-blown encryption system. It could also be distributed to staff etc for BYOD with certificates manually loaded (I would provide full instructions). What are initial thoughts? IMO Linux is a growing ecosystem and better then ever for deployment. CENTOS (https://www.centos.org) seems to be pretty robust and is based on Red-Hat. Even if you can't get all the same programs as Windows, a lot of programs are web-based now although I appreciate not all. You can also do things like setup your own repo etc for software updates. The one thing I don't like is the absence of Outlook, although if you are using webmail, it matters less.

I'm quite a fan of brackets, also x-platform and open source. Brackets - A modern, open source code editor that understands web design.

Have you checked the appdata folder? The program files folder can be virtualised to this location on win Vista+ and this would explain why it is able to install without admin privileges, and replicate itself. Specifically: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ P R O G R A M N A M E

Are you using Virgin Media by any chance?

I found that CrashPlan enterprise is excellent for backing up. There is also a hosted-solution in the cloud. You can specify upload/download speeds on different connections and perform remote restores if needed. Files are backed up every x minutes too which means that you can always recover that document that got corruped or over-written.
