Thanks, but that isn't there when you've used the Likert option. Not that I can find at leasat?

Hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on this. I've set up a Microsoft Form to collect information on underachieving students. Of course, I need it to be quick, concise and easy to complete so as not to add to teachers work load. I've used the Likert option. Listed students down the side and then along the top different barriers ie: behaviour, attendance etc. with the idea that teachers could just click the relevant options. I've now previewed and found you can only select one option - as it is designed for a 'scale'. Does anyone have any thoughts of how to achieve this through other options? Thanks

Ah here are two users I remember! Hiya! Thank you. Her hearing isn't great either. The problem I have is that, anything that isn't the most straightforward thing will confuse her. Although, after I posted this, I ran updates on the laptop and she now says she can see it much better. I didn't even do anything... 😂 I think it's the contrast which is the main issue and being able to find the mouse cursor.

Hi everyone, Been a long time since I've been on here! I went over to the dark side (teaching 😂). I have a question though and couldn't think of who else would know except this clever bunch! My Nan is in her 90s. For years she has loved playing spider solitaire on her laptop but with her eyesight deteriorating very quickly, she can't see to play. She enjoys using the laptop, so my (brilliant) suggestion of a pack of cards isn't going to work. We tried her with a tablet but she didn't manage with it well. She kept pressing things accidentally etc and getting confused. Does anyone have any inspiration? She literally wants to play spider solitaire! Thanks!

So I spent most of Friday faffing about with this and it just wouldn't work. I tried so many things. Then, I couldn't get it back to it's 'semi working' order that it had been in to begin with. It just kept crashing. I realised this morning that the newer version of the bginfo.exe doesn't work properly. I'd decided to use that on Friday and that's why nothing I tried would work. I've now gone back to the previous version and the script in your first post works perfectly. Thank you so much for all the time with this!

Thanks for your help with this. I've done as you suggested. I've put all the files in C:\BGInfo - (got a few vbs scripts to pull names and password expiry etc from the system) and also put the script to run in there - using the same one you wrote in the second post. Then I've added a group policy to run the script at logon (from the C Drive). Also given unrestricted permissions to the folder in our software restriction policy as staff don't have access to the C Drive. But it's still not applying anything on the first log on. It works great at second log on. But at first getting no BGInfo and no wallpaper (which is set via bginfo and the jpg is also in the BGInfo folder on the C Drive). It's a real puzzler!

This is interesting - similar to the script I'm running at log on. How does this work re: teachers / students. Do you deploy a different one to teacher PC's than students? What happens if a teacher logs onto a student machine or vice versa? Do you set the desktop background separately via GPO then and this just runs the bginfo? Thanks for the info!
-
So I've got this working - applying the background as an image through bginfo and then the info displays on that. It is deployed as a script via a user GPO. It works great - except for the first logon. So, for people working at the same desk every day, it's wonderful. For people who move around, it doesn't work at first log on. I'm wanting to deploy to students soon so this will be an issue. The standard windows background is displayed. If you log off and back on, then it works. Does anyone know what might cause this? Thank you

Thanks everyone - I didn't realise about the OCT so have set that up. Is there a way to do this without PDQ as we don't have a license for that, or does the trial version work for this?
-
So we install 2010 using a batch file and that's deployed using GPO. I'm looking at upgrading to 2016 slowly, but need to deploy it. What is the best way to do this? I'm no programmer so any and all advice is much appreciated! Thanks.

We have a handful of these - Lumens is a leader in optical products (or similar - can't remember the exact model - but one of this type at least!) - used with the ladibug software. Software is easy to deploy, they are light and easy to move around. Our maths department are the biggest fans of visualisers.

A ha - got it. Or in our case at least - On IE settings - "Use TLS 1.2" needs to be enabled - we had it enabled for staff but not students, hence it not working. - - - Updated - - - Thanks for taking the time to look Steve - it really is appreciated. I love how we have this community where people are willing to help each other out - it really makes things much more pleasant.
-
Is that in Smoothwall settings? I'm not sure, but because it works when accessing the Smoothwall as a student, but the computer as staff, it works - so I think the Smoothwall might be a red herring.
-
Hmm interesting - these exceptions didn't work but thank you - however, I've just tried it in Chrome and it works for students, but doesn't in IE11.
-
I was really excited it would work then, but sadly it hasn't started working. It's very strange - we haven't changed anything so it is more than likely at their end, but just need to figure out which - I'll check all the things you've listed above and report back. Thanks.

Hey, So we've been using GCSEPod for a while now with no problems. It's just been noticed that students can no longer play the videos. (No idea since when). It appears to be a permissions problem - because accessing the internet as a student whilst logged onto the computer as an admin means that the videos do work. It's only when logged onto the machine as a student that they don't work. So although we use Smoothwall and have checked everything is going through, I don't think that is the issue. The pages load, the video box is black however with a play button in the centre (which doesn't work). Has anyone else seen this and has any clues? Thanks *Update - just been on the Brightcove website (that is the player used by GCSEPod - and it's the same there - so I guess it needs access to something?

Laptop screen replacement from normal suppliers.
Novalee replied to nicholab's topic in How do you do....it?
I usually get them from laptopbits.com Easy to locate the part you need and service has always been great. -
Ultra short throw projectors - Whats ones
Novalee replied to newpersn's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I don't recall what we bought last time, but I found this website helpful - https://www.projectors.co.uk/ It displays the throw ratio on the results page so you don't have to keep opening up each individual projector to see the info you need. -
I'll have a look at this (can't get near the PC at the moment though!), but I have a feeling that it's happening at start up, not log on. Although there is something on the link about that - once they're away from the PC I'll give it a try. Thank you

I have a PC where every time it boots the narrator and magnifier turn on automatically. I've repeatedly turned them off on accessibility options on the log on screen but once the PC reboots they just starts again. Any ideas? It's getting very frustrating!

Any update on how this is? Still can't afford to splash out on it, but would like to soon! I'd heard it isn't great though? Still seem to be a fair few people playing Civ V online so I guess not everyone has got it yet.

Does anyone have a cheap (preferably free!) suggestion? The teacher asking is hoping he will be able to direct it to a folder of documents, presumably Word, and have it scan the whole folder. I don't even know if that is possible? Thanks

So first day back joy! Just waiting on a call back from them regarding this, but wanted to know if anyone had seen this before? The Impact system hasn't moved the school year groups on - the new year 7 are there as '07FORM' and last years year 7 are there 77FORM etc. Also, the new year 7 haven't got their UPN numbers imported from SIMs yet. They did only get enrolled today if it could be a sync issue. Parent Pay money for all students is sitting in Parent Pay - it hasn't transferred to the Impact system. Eek, not today!!
-
Amazing - thank you so much!! We had been on the verge of manually installing this across school just before we broke up for summer, and given we are short staffed, this makes such a difference.
-
Hey, the link has expired - I'm sorry, I've been off work so only just seen this - if it'll repost that'd be amazing, thank you so much. Really helps us out.
