Hi @Mills - welcome to the fountain of knowledge! Congratulations on your new job! I hope you've got @garethedmondson making you a brew at this early hour? :-p

There's also a good wiki app for Civ V - I always leap to that when I try a new Civ. Has so much information. I found that I learnt so much more by playing online and simply asking other players questions. I don't know how I was getting through the games before that!
-
Haha did I? I totally spent all weekend playing - that's soooo bad!! Although I won as India last night. Well, if you count winning as everyone sulking and leaving by about turn 80 then I won...!

So this has been getting on my nerves for ages. When I click into the calendar in Outlook (2016 although the previous version did the same thing), it defaults to a sort of 'list' view, where it lists all out entries, all of which seem to be out of date ones. Looks like a mixture of calendars. (I have about 8 due to different mailboxes etc.) Although default Calendar is highlighted on the left list. If I then select another calendar from this list, it bring it up in a month grid, which is what I want. But then I have to select my standard calendar, and uncheck the first one. If I go back to my mail, I then have to do it all over again next time I open the calendar. Just one of those little annoyances you know? Anyone know how to sort this? Thanks.

Treat yourself. Do you play on multiplayer? I really enjoy these sorts of games. I'm not bothered about shooting games, I love the strategy of Civ. However, I don't think I'll buy it at release, as I imagine it'll be really expensive - I'll likely wait a few months for the price to drop. I got my Civ V with all DLC in a Humble Bundle. Absolute bargain.

Me me me!! I love Civ V - totally hooked. Although it's frozen on me a few times recently think it might be CPU overheating - gonna dust my PC out tonight. Add me - my gamertag is Novalee5 I'll probably be online later.

Thank you @Arthur ! Made my Friday a lot sunnier!

Fantastic! Thank you so much - I'd love the 32-bit too please if it's not too much trouble - half our machines are on 32bit still.
-
Worked straight away - thanks for that!

Anyone know where I can get a hold of these please? Thank you!

Anyone got a tidy staff share? Whats your structure?
Novalee replied to DCUK6's topic in General Chat
We have a messy staff share - although it's on my list to tidy up by subject folder. We have a separate drive for multimedia which is split by Video/Audio/Picture and then by department. Staff don't have write access on here though, they need to go through us (which isn't ideal to be fair as they just put things on the 'normal' staff share and take up space on there instead. Need to look at that actually. -
I've voted no. We do have one (Spiceworks) and the odd teacher uses it, but in general it isn't used and we don't use it to manage jobs. We used to, but it just sort petered off. (Is that the word? Petered?)

I thought it was something about that area, but I thought the end of the cigar was an animal or something

Thanks guys - I'll have a look at those - I'll drop you a message too @ICTDirect_Dave @abillybob - I don't really want to spend over £400

So I need something for simply watching TV on and browsing the internet / using office. I have a PC at home, so it's for around the house or working away. I don't want anything too fancy, but also, would like it to last. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd prefer something lighter if possible so it's easier for carrying, although I don't particularly want to drop screen size below 15.6". I have a student card if anywhere offers student discounts? Thanks guys!

So it seems our students are able to log into their own Chrome accounts within the browser. From here they are able to add and access all sorts of addons (Youtube etc). Does anyone know a way to lock this down via group policy? Thanks.
-
So I'm updating out group policies and it has got me wondering. What do you install as standard on All machines / staff machines / students machines?
-
I'm such a dummy - I put my DOB as 01.01.2016 on Adobe just to fill it in and now I'm locked out of everything as, presumably, I'm under 18. I can't do anything on Adobe, and doesn't appear to be anyway to change my DOB. D'oh! **edit** sorted by using as an enterprise - got the option to enter DOB again. Should've been an enterprise anyway, must've missed that the first time round.

Thing is, the reason I want the watch is because my phones battery just can't hack it. It barely lasts the day without any tracking on - I've used them on there before but it needs charging by mid afternoon which isn't practical.
-
Does anyone know where I can find this please? Could do with updating across the school. Thanks.

Does the apple watch work well as a fitness tracker though? Also, my issue there is that I have a Samsung Galaxy and am not in a hurry to go back to using an iPhone which I guess you need to use the apple watch.
-
I got 92. But I don't really understand what that means... :-/ ! Plus this was written in 2010 so...I guess text messages should have probably included Facebook messages etc. *edit* if I update text messages to include online messaging services as well it pushes me up to 97.

Oh that's a shame - they aren't cheap. @jdoyle I'm not a swimmer so waterproof isn't a massive issue for me. How does the calorie intake thing on some of them work? Do you have to calculate your own calories and input them (can't see any other way, just curious how user friendly that is).

So I decided I'd like to get a fitness tracker. I had decided on the Fitbit Blaze. But then I noticed smart watches. If a smartwatch can incorporate the main aspects of a fitness band, what is the downside of just getting the smart watch? Does anyone have any advice / recommendations? My phone is a newer android. Not bought either of these devices before and there is just so much choice!

So we could do with purchasing a couple of very good school cameras. We currently have a random selection of old cameras around, but would like to be able to get decent shots for our news articles etc. Also, as staff aren't allowed to use their own devices, these will be getting a lot of use. What does everyone else use? Also, where can I buy them? My usual techy suppliers don't seem to do much in the way of cameras. Thanks.
