One of my services had Season 2 of "The Lazarus Project" starting yesterday, which I did think was odd as there's been no fanfare. Seems like someone at TVDb confused it with the start of S1 in the US. :(

I finished S1, and possibly the only series, of The Swarm. A classy SF production, international locations and cast, grown-up story and some uneasy moments. My kind of drama.

FINALLY finished Picard! Series 3 was peak 'Trek, absolutely marvellous throughout. Great ending. I do hope they continue things from there in a new series.

 

I enjoyed it, though the multiple endings went a bit "LotR" and Ed Speleers' wasn't the greatest cast addition. Why did he sound British, btw? Accents aren't genetic. Also the "original" Picard cast got short-changed and, though I didn't think that the holding hands in S2 meant Seven and Raffi were lovers, as they confirmed that they should have shown it more (not like that!).

 

I don't think they need to do ST:TGG (The Geriatric Generation) though. They should resurrect Captain Shaw and have him leading a crew with guest appearances from the older crew.

 

I did have many more thoughts, but it was so long ago that I've forgotten most of them ;).

Yep, I was well impressed. S2 looks unlikely, though it hasn't been broadcast in many territories so there is a slight chance that if sales pick up they might consider it. I only heard of it as it was advertised during some slushy movie Mme LeMarchand was watching whilst ironing so publicity hasn't been great.

Really enjoying Slow Horses on Apple TV (yes I know, but you can get a week's trial)

Slightly oddball spy series, a bit like a scuzzy version of Spooks. Some great dialogue and acting. We also watched The Essex Serpent on Apple but let's just say that the book was much better...

I find the Gary Oldman character so unutterably sleazy that it's hard to watch.
Yes he is disgustingly brilliant; reminds me of a person I used to work with about 40 years ago - ugh. Odd fact, the theme tune is sung by Mick Jagger!

Tried watching Citadel, and 5 episodes in find it a bit ridiculous. The acting is pretty poor. The CGI is hilariously bad. Its like they tried to copy the stylings of older Bond, but removed everything that was charming about it.

 

Moved on to Silo. Loving it. It is clearly "this isn't Fallout, honest", but it works well.

 

Also watching Foundation. Got 1 more episode to watch. A great show. The emperors are a little on the nose with their all powerful shtick. Jared Harris doesn't half get around sci-fi these days!

As much as I lovedthe first season of Westworld, I hadn't seen more than the first couple of eps of S2 as Mme LeMarchand finds it too violent. As she's been away looking after her sick aunt, I've managed to make good headway into S2. I was finding the time periods thing a bit OTT and unnecessarily confusing and felt that they were trying to string out the mysteries (and their answers) for too long, though the show still gripped. However, I loved Episode 8, the one with the backstory of The Ghost Nation's Akecheta, absolutely brilliant and a heartbreaking. It even managed to answer some questions!

I watched the first 2 of Slow horses last night.. I kept thinking it was a black comedy as some of the stuff was just weird. (Oldman included).

 

Finished FUBAR.. poor Arnie.

I missed a few episodes of SILO and didn't realise will I was 3/4 way through episode 6.. very slow.

They're the best kind of drama. Don't pander to those with the attention span of a gnat.

I started watching FUBAR, I think I'm 3 or 4 episodes into it, but I'm not exactly itching to go back.

It's a funny concept, but it feels like it never really figured out what it wants to be. It's not wacky enough to be a proper comedy, and it's not spy-y enough to be a spy show, and the characters aren't nearly developed enough for it to have any kind of drama.

Finished Season 2 of Westworld, which managed to make some sense of the timelines etc (though I still think it was unnecessarily complex). Not sure that the appearance of Akecheta's lady made sense (though it did make me very happy), nor the shot of Teddy at the end. At times I was wondering if I'd inadvertently started the final episode, as it did feel like an "ending". Looking forward to seeing where the show goes now, and hoping the reset button won't get pushed.

 

Glad I watched the post credit sequence, as I was wondering how the heck that character could take so many hits!

 

As Black Mirror starts again tomorrow, it may be a while before I get to Season 3.

Finished watching series one of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel the other day. Definately one of those shows you kick yourself for not watching earlier, and totally not what I expected. I'll be starting season 2 as quickly as I can.

Yellowstone on Paramount+, its fantastic. Feels like a cowboy (as in cowboys who ride horses, not poor tradesmen) version of The Soparonos.

 

I feel the latter version may also be entertaining though - "Ere - you'll never guess what Terry 'ad on 'is kebab last night!"

Started in on Black Mirror Season 6. After an intriguing start, I was wondering where "Joan is Awful" could go, but it picked up once the "real" Salma Hayek appeared and turned into a rare "fun" episode for the show. Wasn't so keen on "Loch Henry", as I already had an idea where it was going (maybe people less familiar with some of the tech might not see it). While the "We're not gonna need the lemon juice" scene was chilling, the biggest shock came this morning, when I learned the barman friend was Podrick from "Game of Thrones". I did like the links between the two eps (and other episodes) though.

Started watching The Ark on Sky over the weekend. Similar vibe to CW's The Outpost (and some of the same cast). If you liked Killjoys or Dark Matter I'd recommend giving it a shot.

Finished Season 6 of Black Mirror. Got to say that they should have stuck with the original plan of it being "Red Mirror" as only two of the five (1 & 3) had the show's USP of "technology, twisted". The third ep was pretty bleak and was one of those "But why didn't they?" type eps. Four and five were basically horror eps. I felt four was a bit lacking, but five at least was darkly amusing. Basically, the only one I positively enjoyed was the first, E5 was watchable and E2 OK - not keen on the other two.

 

Was back to Westworld last night (S3). Impressed that they do seem to be progressing the plot rather than the reset that many shows go for, at least so far.
