Installed BFME2 for nostalgia and completed the campaigns again, such a good game. Had it bought for me 10 years ago :)

Re-installed Pillars of Eternity because I didn't complete it the first time around!

I've spent a silly amount of time playing Civ VI, just finished mopping up a game on huge map size...

Gotta love firing off them nukes, although it's a little unfair when launching them against people still in the industrial era (looks at you, Gandhi)

I can't remember the last proper game I played all the way through, mind. I've got a list of about 100 games I've bought on steam and never played, yet I doubt I'll ever finish any of them.

I've only managed nuclear weapons on one of my games so far and didn't use them I'm usually too close to winning by the time they are developed (I play on King difficulty as I can usually win but not always). none of the computer controlled people seem to use them either.

I've been doing huge maps taking control of each civ in alphabetical order. Currently on my third attempt with Teddy

Just completed Mafia 3, the story is good and apart from the first 90 minutes game play, it is a boring repetitive game with the stupidest AI I've ever played. But the music is awesome. planning on playing it again just for the soundtrack....

Picked up MURDERED: SOUL SUSPECT yesterday, well, just because really. Interesting concept, I'm still not 100% convinced on the execution, it's basically a 3D Point-and-Click with a few QTEs but it does have some interesting game mechanics beyond that. I think I'll keep with it, but I wouldn't quite recommend it for its £20 price tag at the moment. Hopefully it gets better though.

I really liked the storyline for this, managed to call all of the plot twists but one though (which knocked me for six).

You are right - it never goes beyond a point & click puzzle (aside from the pseudo-stealth combat sections of which there's only a few). I'd recommend it for about £10-15.

Okay, so completed this tonight.. Verdict: It got a lot better than I initially gave it credit for. The main storyline is a little slow-to-progress at first, but by the end it had a lot going for it without being over-complicated or overstepping the bounds of the supernatural theme into something a bit too silly (no final boss transforming into a skyscraper-sized demon, etc). Being a glorified point-and-click adventure it did suffer a little too much of gather-all-of-the-collectable-things, but each time you picked up something it gave you a bit more insight into the backstory of Salem, you, your relationship with your wife and other key characters, so it did keep it interesting and not just collecting-for-the-sake-of-collecting that I've seen a lot of games slip into. Plot-wise, as mentioned it was slow to start but did get incredibly compelling and there are quite a few twists and turns, some of which I picked out, some of which I didn't. The reveal/discovery of clues pivotal to the story is slow enough that you do sit there and ponder things yourself, but not too slow that I became disengaged.

There are, as @korifugi mentioned, pseudo-stealth-combat-QTE events in the game but they aren't too common, which is a fantastic thing for the atmosphere of the game. It always felt like 'they' (generic nondescript baddies for spoiler-free purposes) could show up at any moment, but the infrequency of their appearance made them actually feel threatening. Other machines include possessing and controlling cats (that's a thing, for some reason), being able to walk through walls (which takes a lot of getting used to, I found myself still walking around obstacles like chairs or parked cars instead of through them for about 60% of the game), and there's an ability you get about halfway through which, whilst novel and useful, felt a little under-utilised.

Honestly, if you enjoy slower-paced narrative games with a penchant for collect-'em-all's then I actually would recommend this game at its £20 pricetag (Steam) but be aware that this game is not for everyone. If you'd much prefer leaping into battle and beating on enemies Kratos-style; a focus on chest-high walls, cover-mechanics and pew-pew; or some good old fashioned muscle, bravado and sandpaper-voiced bloke-blokes; you're not going to get that here.

7/10 :p

But actual 7/10, not IGN 7/10-means-don't-buy-it. Some mechanics could've been better utilised and I felt there was still room for a little more plot to be fleshed out, but overall very enjoyable.

Just finished playing through Dishonored on Xbox One - played it back on the 360 and tried to go full stealth (and failed!). This time I just went balls to the wall and had a blast with it. Edited by Racoon

GAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I forgot how difficult it is to unlock the Super Meat Boy character in Spelunky HD. That is all.

(Didn't recently buy it, but it's one of the few games lite enough to work on my tablet whilst I'm at Mums for Christmas, so recently-picked-back-up. Unlocked him at home on my PC. Want him on my tablet now. Characters don't sync across devices. I could just copy the save file but.. nah..

Also Town of Salem runs pretty well, which is pretty fun but can be difficult and a bit luck-based. Would still recommend.)

Brought "The Last Guardian" today. Played for about an hour. Seemingly under-impressed on this one at the mo. Don't have a clue what's going on or what I am doing

Ok. I finally caved in and ordered Final Fantasy XV. Let's see if I can complete this one ay.

It's good.

The battle system is cool. I'm replaying XIII and having to wait for the ATB bar to fill before I can attack is annoying.

Action RPG >>> Turn-based.

Especially when it's 3D and not sprites.

Stupid enemies taunting me with their group huddle when I can't do anything, then moving apart just as I do an AoE attack...

Finished Civ 6. Well I have won with every leader, map type, map size, victory type and starting age except for the final two starting ages which is good enough for me. The two dlc packs weren't good enough for me to be willing to splash out even a small amount of money on them. I mostly played on quick but sometimes standard. Favourite leader is Peter, least favourite is Gorgo.

Then we come to "Games I bought in the Steam sale":

Ruzar the Life Stone

Watch_Dogs (and all dlc)

Civilization: Beyond Earth (and all dlc)

The Age of Decadence

Fallout 4 (and all dlc)

The Guild

The Guild 2

I couldn't get into either of The Guild games. Their long and tedious tutorials put me off them a bit as well. I may go back to them once I'm done with the others

Watch_Dogs - I was enjoying this but it crashed far too often or started without sound or went all jittery for no reason and after 3 days I just gave up on it

Civ:BE - This took a while to get into as well. I don't know who invented the tech web but they need to be beaten with hammers - the filter just about makes it usable.

After two days of not really knowing what I was doing I am now starting to enjoy it and achieved my first victory yesterday lunchtime and I am comfortably on my way to a second but I won't be finished until this evening as work has interrupted my gaming time.

Got Rise of Tomb Raider and Doom for xmas, completed Tomb Raider already, and there's no multiplayer, so a bit disappointed (although it was a good game IMO, just short)

Bought battlefield 1. Operation maps are insane.

Played Gunpoint (excellent puzzle thing and very funny, but ends just as it gets going, sadly), Never Alone (a game about Inuit mythology actually written by Inuits, but the game is a bit meh) and That Dragon, Cancer (obviously heartbreaking given that its about the developer's son suffering cancer from 1yo, with a couple of utterly brilliant moments that could only work in a game amongst a lot of other sections that don't work anywhere near as well) over the holidays.

Then picked up Endless Legend at 75% off from Humble and oh my glob it's marvellous. Proper Civ style 4X game with a fantasy setting, but whereas different factions in Civ give you a couple of slightly different units and buildings and a boost here and there, Endless Legend's factions all play the game completely differently--maybe they don't use food but can only grow by consuming Dust (the gold equivalent), or maybe they can't found any other cities but have to build up a megacapital, or maybe there's no peace and cities grow by consuming corpses... then there's a storyline for each faction with quests, changing seasons, resources and boosters, heroes, equipment for units... I'm about 12 hours in to my first play through and just about getting a handle on everything, but if you enjoy Civ games, you have to get this too. It's brilliant.
