Of course Theresa May can't actually 100% say it will be Law, but the I can't see any Tories voting against it to be honest.

Internal debates on Europe though will be a different matter I suspect.

I expect it's an act that will be whipped through with the refrain "Won't Someone Think of the Children!" echoing round the halls of Westminster.

All that talk of "zero hour contracts" and "bedroom taxes" earlier in this thread seems a long way away.

Its a shallow victory. You have won nothing but the right to gloat. Milk it while you can and wave goodbye to the NHS and all the other stuff that was not in the manefesto that they will spring upon the UK. I can hear the sounds of tectonic plates giving way up north.

 

Im going to vote we leave the EU just out of spite.

 

Clearly the polls do not agree, otherwise the Conservatives would not have got back into power.

Labour and Lib Dems have been decimated by the SNP

 

What does that tell you about what Labour were proposing?

 

Seems to say a lot to me...

People were too caught up in the rhetoric that the last Labour government caused the world wide financial melt down and didn't listen to anything else.

So basically "It wasn't us Guv!" ?

 

That hasn't really worked though has it - No leader, no shadow leader, wiped out by nationalists, far fewer seats than you had before.

 

Maybe people started to realise that things aren't as bad as they were led to believe?

That didn't take long!

 

One point that hasn't much been talked about: we're all fracked now. (Unless you happen to live very close to someone rich and powerful, in which case no fracking for you).

I disagree. I think they didn't see Ed as a credible leader and they liked the UKIP anti immigration rhetoric. Voting UKIP hit the labour vote worse than the conservative one.

Well, if house prices start to full. If rents suddenly become affordable. If property suddenly becomes available for people who need to downsize (to avoid certain expenses). Then I'll agree.

 

Personally, I should do great under a Tory government - so long as we avoid being swallowed by a MAT and I become redundant. Tax will go down, house prices will go up, I'm rich :D Which is a good thing since I'll need the extra income now if I'm ever going to be able to retire.

 

Yep, it's not as bad as I think...

I think this is what it comes down to -- I challenge anyone amongst us, even those of us curling up with disappointment this morning, to call Ed Milliband "inspiring" and maintain a straight face.

 

It's never felt like Labour really sat down and looked at themselves after last time, never did the hard work they needed to do to rebuild properly. Hopefully they do so this time, but I don't know who they can pick to do that job. All of the names being mentioned (apart from Yvette Cooper) are almost anonymous to me, which isn't a good sign.

Most of the results I have looked at have shown the lib dems as the big losers and UKIP gaining most of them. The conservatives got relatively few of the lib dem votes.

 

I am working on the theory that majority who fell for "I agree with Nick" and switched from Labour to Lib Dem in 2010 have switched to UKIP this time and still not voted Labour

Exactly, people need to accept the fact that the majority of people have spoken and also the good that the government managed in the last parliament and stop spouting exaggerated rubbish.

Tory only gained an extra 0.8% of votes. What happened is people who voted Lib Dem before voted for anyone but Tory - so the Tories (who were nearly universally in second place in Lib Dem seats), end up with the most votes due to it.

 

Looking at my constituency, Lib Dem votes disappeared almost entirely and UKIP votes are now number 2!
