My couple of rupees worth :

To be fair if you want to watch a car show about your run of the mill motors look else where...

Jezza's format worked..

It's what made Top Gear "Top Gear"

Hopefully Mr Evans can inject some fun and laughter into as he seems to be a cheerful fella..

I think that's probably the problem, people don't watch Top Gear for just the cars.. they mainly watched it for the comedic value that you get in every episode.

BBC can either change the format to make it a serious car show, but it will lose a lot of viewers - or they can try and keep the 'humour' going and it probably won't work so they'll lose some viewers.

Either way I don't really care..

Amazon have snapped the trio up to produce a show for their Prime Instant Video service.

Amazon Prime signs ex-Top Gear hosts - BBC News

Just seen their twitter feed, it's official.

As I said before the real losers will be the BBC and the millions of world wide viewers. Now it will no longer be essentially free to watch.

Do I want to sign up for amazon prime? Not really. Perhaps one day if it's popularity increases we will see it attached with Virgin Media/Sky (I can hope). Not really worth signing up to another service just for LikeTopGear but NotTopGear.... If amazon do it right though they can increase the episode series, give us more minutes on "The News" and bring back TheCoolWall but NotTheCoolWall. Sometimes I wish Sky had pinched them, as much as I don't like the main commentators on their Sport channels I do enjoy all the extras that we get with the F1 channel which I will add - has blown away what the BBC ever gave us.

Will be interesting to see who else goes over to this new show from the previous crew, the producer who quit BBC will most likely go with them.

I knew it wasn't gonna be ITV (for advertising reasons) but I was hoping for a more popular service like Netflix. Amazon Prime just doesn't seem worth it... Don't want to sign up for yet another subscription service!

I've seen a lot of comments similar to this but I think Amazon Prime is great value for money already and gets better all the time. If you don't order from Amazon much I guess it's not so good but next day delivery + Prime Instant Video + Prime Music (just launched) + Storage + Kindle Library (if you have an actual Kindle) for £79 a year is good value to me.

Interesting, I wouldn't have expected them to end up on Amazon Prime. Be interesting to see if it actually drives up subscriber numbers or people will just say...

Seems like a very good carrot for Amazon to dangle. Medium to heavy users of Amazon for shopping will find Prime is a no-brainer anyway to get their money's worth and the media side of it certainly is a bonus.

Interested in the possibility of Jenson Button on Top Gear though; he is a very charismatic and funny bloke as well as one of the most down to earth people in F1. Could be a good move; probably better than commentating ;)

Couldn't agree more. Something like Prime will give them a lot more freedom to create something entertaining and it might just be the thing that pushed me into getting prime. I use Amazon a lot but haven't been willing to shell out on Prime just yet.

I'd love to see Jenson on the new Top Gear too. He'd fill in the role of the Stig you would imagine which would mean we've seen the last of that character probably? It will be a shame in some ways though as I've been looking forward to the prospect of the BBC signing Jenson up to be DC's co-commentator in the F1.

Seems like most decent stuff on Prime you need to pay extra for?

I got a Prime account on my work Amazon account, as frankly we were spending hundreds and hundreds on postage each year alone. I took a mooch at the Prime Video, well it'd be rude not to, and I wasn't impressed.

Pick Top Gear - £2.89 a show!

That isn't Prime video, that's Amazon Video. Prime has a subset of the stuff available on Amazon. Just like Netflix has a limited selection too.

It's just that Amazon also allows you to buy other stuff too.

not to mention the app (at least on my tv) is so inferior to the Netflix app its untrue it cant even remember the last episode of a show you watched so you have to guess if its been a day or 2

Must be your TV, I have a Samsung smart TV and it has no issues with knowing what I have watched and favorited. I did do a complete TV and App software upgrade recently so if you have not done the main TVs software as well as the app that maybe it?

You can always wait until all the episodes are released and then sign up for the Prime trial ;-)

I would've preferred it on Netflix as I think their streaming is better, looks like they weren't prepared to throw as much money at it as Amazon.

Hopefully Amazon will make all episodes available at once (like Netflix does with their programmes) so we can binge-watch the entire series in one weekend. :)

Will you pay membership to Amazon Prime to watch Jeremy Clarkson's new motoring show?

There's aren't enough options in that poll.

As an existing Amazon Prime subscriber surely I would have to vote 'No'?

But what if he was the stig all along? The stig never quit ;)

Top Gear was the most pirated show in the world. When you consider that must of the people in the UK didn't need to pirate it, I'd hate to think what the pirate figures for the "new" Top Gear will be!

He could have been, but I've always thought this stig was a Touring Car driver. But then I've always thought that and previously he's bene anything but :)

If they got him as the host instead of Evans, I would have seriously been more interested.

Get the feeling this rumour is just like the Football Transfers, one person at the BBC HQ mentioned the name Button while in the toilet and that got passed on to the press....

Its quite hard to miss Stig on a tank driving through London to hand in a petition to the PM .... but you managed it :)

I saw that, didn't see he'd revealed his name!
