Production values were much higher since they had to film it all in 4K, but the tent section just didn't quite flow and as it wasn't the first to be filmed it will be interesting to see how the others go. It was nice to see the new "test track" up at the local airfield, and was quite shocked the Science Museum let them use it, but heres to the next episode

I thought it was just more of the same - weak challenges which were already running out of ideas when they were on the BBC. The bit in the tent was drawn out and awkward. pretty much its no longer must watch tv its something to have on in the background while i make/eat tea

AJWhite1970 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I enjoyed it. It's an hour of good old fashioned leave your brain on a hook as you enter entertainment. I agree with Sted in that I thought the killing the celebrities was their way of ending that segment for good and the new track looks good (although the American will need to grow on me, don't know why Ben Collins couldn't have had the job...) but we have to remember that although we in the UK are used to them this series on Amazon will be exposing them to millions of new viewers worldwide so they effectively had to press the Doctor Who reset button and start again. Give it a few weeks and it should be fully up and running... 2
Lonix Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Loved it. It took all the elements I really enjoyed and just stuck to them. Felt like they took it less serious, bit more budget, less political correctness and more freedom. Did mention ages ago that I felt like they were being held back by the BBC, although I also said please go off to Sky/Virgin so I didn't have to sign up to anything else.... It's the same trio and although it felt at times Top Gear it also feels not quiet BBC Top Gear. The quote I love is "This is Top Gear Max". I'm glad they did this and really can't wait for more, if it is a success I hope they do a lot more episodes per series. It's only the first one but it looks like it can be just as fantastic as before if not better.

Maybe soon we'll only be able to joke about our own kinds, which only serves to make racism worse. You know, how some folks do already, something the likes of Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy are famous for. So, if you want to rip the gipsies, you'd need to be one. Ah well. googlemad Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 It's 'OK' but dragging a bit for me at the moment, since they've ditched the SIARPC they have an extra 10 minutes or so an episode to fill. Maybe because they need enough content to fill 12 episodes rather than 6 too doesn't help matters. The editing is basically just Top Gear though!
korifugi Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Having now seen three - my thoughts are thus: What content there is, is good - I liked the Johannesburg ep. military extraction, even though you can tell there was certainly an amount of 'padding' on it. The Eboladrome seems to be a fun test track - and the Nascar Drivers' denouncement of everything as 'communist' (and general moans) are fun. The localised mickey taking enforces where they are each ep. However - I think the "let's have celebs 'die off'" bit is now old and annoying. It needs to be dropped. In summary, I'm quite enjoying it - but will fast forward through the 'celeb' bit.
