I have 10.2.2505 not 10.3.2505 - I'm guessing that's why the cloud console is suggesting updates available?

But neither via the cloud console nor on the local machine itself via the Avast program can I update to 10.3.2505

The cloud console still can see the clients, and remote scans seem to work.

There isn't a 10.3.2505 update. After the problem with version 10.3.2507 they rolled it back to 10.3.2505 as an interim measure to get round the problem. You can check you have the latest update by looking

in the c:\programdata\Avast software\persistant data\avast\logs\update.log

after you hit the update button there should be a line something like this :- [2015-11-09 08:58:18] [notice ] [instupcore ] [ 548: 2116] There isn't newer PROGRAM version. This was near the end.

if you had you machines set to auto update (and they have version 10.3.2507 installed) the only way to get round any problems is to uninstall avast, reboot and reinstall.

https://support.business.avast.com/hc/en-us/articles/206518533-Urgent-Update-from-Avast-for-Business-Version-10-3-2507

even if all your clients are saying they are okay i strongly suggest to check the Avast Antivirus service is running, Out of 97 machines 53 of mine regularly fail (the service doesn't always restart either). This doesn't get reported in the console

I have also turned the auto program update to manual until it's gets sorted.

Just started using this on around 10 machines at a remote site.. Quite nice offering for a free service, are many people using this on a large scale? (have you had many issues?)

If i edit the template settings that are applied to a workstation, does the client need a restart for the settings to take effect or or should it apply with one?

@techie08

The workstation will require a reboot to apply the template, this is what I have experienced in the past, once a workstation has been setup if you remove that client from the web interface and then install the setup software again it usually remembers the settings (not 100%) just check to make sure.

This is probably a bit niche, but if anyone's running Guardware from e-Safe with Avast for Business 10.3.2508 (clean install or upgraded from another version), be aware that you might have web browsers being unable to access the Internet.

Symptoms are:

Everything looks OK (routing, DNS, ftp, proxy settings, Window's built-in connectivity detection), but no websites (including local LAN sites) will load.

Turning off Avast or Guardware (doesn't matter which) will cause things to start working again.

A remove and reinstall of Avast doesn't make a difference post-reboot.

This is on Windows 7 Pro 64bit, updated to the Nov 2015 patches.

I have 85 devices with Avast but in the console it lists '60 DEVICES ARE IN DANGER'. I have been clicking on 'View devices' and then clicking on each computer in the list and clicking 'Update Program' or 'virus definitions' but the amount of devices in danger keeps going up.

Any advice why this is happening or what I am doing wrong would be great

I was having a similar problem until this week, when it finally went down to one device that i think may well have a problem. I did reinstall on around 1/2 of them, but I'm not sure (now) that it was necessary. I'd "Update Program" first and make sure as many of the machines are turned on as you can, then try the definitions tomorrow.

Just check they are actually getting the Program/def updates, here we put an outgoing policy on our smoothwall to allow the Avast update IP's straight out to the web, the IP address' that they use for updates look to have changed just before Christmas. I do a lookup on the update servers it lists when you try updating in a client, namely iabs.u.avast.com and ivps9x.u.avast.com and add them to Smoothwall.

I'm wondering if they've improved something their end. Went out to repair the installation on my final "at risk" machine and by the time i got back to my office the machine was showing as "safe" - previously changes had taken some time to register. Anyway, for the first time for what seems like months I now have all devices showing as "Safe"!

Worked out why we have got so many 'In Danger' devices. A while back we changed our proxy sever address, which I updated in the AVAST settings template. when I look at the proxy settings on all devices it has been set to none.

Some kind of glitch with changing the proxy address??????

I will now have to visit each computer and update the proxy info.

Still have proxy issues and wondered if anyone else is having the same problems or has any idea what I am doing wrong?

Problem 1 - If I create an installer with proxy settings the client Avast software still installs as direct connection.

Problem 2 - If I use a settings template that has the proxy settings the client Avast software fills in the proxy address correctly and port address but does not untick 'Use a direct connection' so does not use the proxy.

Scheduled scans and other tasks now available I see - but only for Premium paid for.

Guess I wont be scheduling anything!!

I still wish they had granular pricing for premium. Some devices I would like the full suite on but not all. Also scheduled scan should be a minimum for all tbh.

Agreed. It seems to be very much all or nothing at the moment. Hook you in with a free product then hit you with the facts. A shame really as it had so much potential.

URGENT - Anyone having issues with 11.1.2510 of Avast? It breaks SMB and thus machines cannot connect to network shares (bit of an issues on a network) uninstalling or rolling back restores network connectivity!! Note: Appears to only be affecting Windows 7 machines/ Win10 is ok. Edited by RobFuller
