6Foot2 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Monday all staff are in for an Inset day and Tuesday staff and students are back for a new year. Just about to logoff for the evening. Getting ready for work tomorrow. Anyone else doing the same tomorrow?
MatthewL Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Nope, not back till the 5th took it as leave, no point been back for a day. Still got a crate of cider to finish off before I go back to work!!
mrbios Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 half day booked for tomorrow, in that half I'm remoting in and doing various checks and changing all the power saving settings so that everything turns back on Monday morning. Only going in if i really need to
newpersn Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Site don't open till Monday morning. Did remote in and the only problem i can see is "no incoming or outgoing main" atm. (Just a reboot of a Linux box on Monday will sort that)
tobiasclarity Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I'm back I tomorrow 😞, hopefully going to make it as productive as I can so Monday won't be such a slap in the face when everything is 'Business as normal'. have the joy of dealing with failed backups tomorrow that nosedived over the Christmas holidays yayy😄😩
gaz350b Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 And as I was about to reply to this thread my asana notifications just spammed me with my tasks for today. In tomorrow not looked at work since the 19th it's been great! Need to go in if anything to get bearings before Monday.
jdoldridge Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back on Monday for me. I've been remoting in to keep and eye on things and making sure the backups have been running etc and managed to get some time to have a play with SCCM as no doubt the next week will be fairly busy so I won't have time.
E_G_R2 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in, check all systems, re clear my desk and hunt for leftover goodies from before christmas
6Foot2 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 I am back. It's cold. Very cold here. I have two heaters on in the office and, in theory, the main school heating is running but it is still cold enough to make typing quite difficult.
Grey-gear Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in today, gone around all the computer rooms replacing missing and broken keyboards and mice. still need to fill the printers with paper and then and get a hard drive replaced as one has failed over the holiday.
eyetea Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in today, quick status check on everything to see if its all okay and sort out the things needed for Monday that have started trickling in over my holiday break.. so happy I was sent it all before I took annual leave!
rickjames Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Very cold here. I have two heaters on in the office and, in theory, the main school heating is running but it is still cold enough to make typing quite difficult. Similar; I've a heater below my feet but the ground floor heating/hot water at school is off/broken. Cycled in this well, certainly nippy getting back on the bike.
TechMonkey Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in today. Last rewiring of the Music Tech room just completed now it will be some software snagging, general checks and update documentation
abillybob Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Been in since Monday had New Years Eve & New Years Day off back in today. I've been running riot all week trying to get stuff sorted. My line manager wants me to complete a full inventory of all the IT equipment in the school within 3 days.... that's become quite apparent it's not happening. *sigh* Bring on the next holiday.
Oddbod Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Then line manager denies your request for asset tags as “no budget for sundry items”… yup been ‘there’. IIRC, had an NM make a request for full inventory audit after I presented him with one for the 400macs that we had ‘allegedly’ (more like 120)
Andrew_C Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in for a short day. I've got the heating controls, so I'm all right... Some music on, a few quiet jobs to finish off. Much better than being at home with a house full of squealing girls who REALLY need to be back at school!
AJWhite1970 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Been doing lots of small jobs all Christmas using Remote Desktop but not required back in the office until Monday. Sims admin did a full upgrade on Tuesday and that's gone fine. Staff and student Remote Access been working 24/7 (and been hammered with logins) and for once no power cuts. All in all, a very simple Christmas shift this year Andrew
mdrabble Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Site closed until monday so I've remoting in trying to get to grips with new school/new setup and trying to track down a rogue gpo setting which for the life of me I cannot find. Have since taken the decision that come the August holidays I am going to have new 2012r2 installations with new active directory. I'm currently sat planning and configuring VM installations of server 2012.
mthomas08 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back on 5th, going back to work could be worse: BBC Report on iPhone factory Kinda reminds me of those who say terms like "build quality".
rad Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in on Monday 5th.... off on Monday 12th for 5 days holiday, yep, thats right holiday in term time. Center Parcs for a week!
jdoyle Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 back in the 5th Jan for TD Day (school shut till then). Finish at school on the 16th Jan and start new job on the 19th Jan.
ellsandell Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Back in on Monday. With a job list bigger than my arm.... Back in on Monday 5th.... off on Monday 12th for 5 days holiday, yep, thats right holiday in term time. Center Parcs for a week! Center parks in Penrith?
