We had a pretty bad storm last night. I've never seen/heard thunder and lightning like it. It's still raining now but it's cooled down to a lot more manageable temperature now.

We just installed PaperCut on Server 2016 and also moved our main Staff and Student shared areas over to a 2016 server too. Now Windows 10 as yet apart from in our office.

The only programs I actually watch are Gold Rush, Insane Pools and Tanked all of which are on Discovery or Animal Planet! I think I will cancel the Sky subscription unless they sort that out

I upgraded to 9.5 yesterday, usually I would hold off doing upgrades or major work on a Friday but Veeam just works so well I didn't expect any issues with the upgrade, and I didn't have any either, backups have all run fine by the looks of it so far

@JoeBloggs I think that is just the client to play online for free, unfortunately it says on the RA 2 page on that site that EA have not released it as Freeware and it will still need to be purchased

@simpsonj that's a pretty easy task to be honest, I think you might be right there.

We use Lightspeed for our iPad deployment (1:1 for 6th Form) and some class sets too. It doesn't tend to need much doing to it really. You can tell the apps on the devices to update an app when needed. I have just started setting up class set of iPads for one of our primaries in the following way: Prepare in Apple Configurator (Connect to Wifi) > Supervise in Configurator (Add the lightspeed management profile) > Relax, Lightspeed does the rest if the profile settings are configured correctly. We have Lightspeed connect to Apple VPP so the apps pull in pretty seamlessly.

@howartp I see what you mean now. I would contact inVentry about that as it may be a case of the students assigning their card when they first sign in on the inVentry system.

@howartp - Well not much has changed really, I have however found out our Paxton desktop readers do not take the Mifare cards so I think we will stick with them for now and use the fobs for the doors still until we can work out a better solution. I think we will just roll out the "one card for all" policy when we have worked it out nicely with the Paxton system but if you have more time to figure out how to get Paxton working with Mifare cards then that's better (please let me know if you do) We aren't linking inVentry with NRS (I don't even know why this would be possible anyway or what purpose it would serve either) but the NRS system is fairly stable, all running nicely off of a VM

iPads! All ours seem to want to purchase is iPads... You're server has fallen over and needs replacing "but we have no money to do that, oh but can you order 10 more iPads for us please"

We have have a setup like yourself but I can assure you that RM are usually quite good with Smoothwall, they actually put ours in when they did the build of the BSF network which they installed three years ago. Hope this gives you a bit of ammunition with RM.

We are due to have inVentry sign in installed over the October half term which has triggered this thread, wed want to rationalise everything. I didn't realise that the Paxton readers would read the Mifare cards however. Thanks @pcstru

Hello all! We are looking into moving away from our Mifare cards which we use with our current print management system and our NRS cashless catering system over to Paxton. We currently use Paxton for our door control systems and it is also compatible with our new print management system too. Does anybody here use Paxton cards with their NRS catering system over the standard Mifare offering or know if this is possible? We have called NRS but they didn't seem to understand what it was we were asking them so we haven't got an answer from them. Any information is much appreciated! Thanks JD

I would certainly setup a virtual host if possible. It makes things much easier when you are building a testing images if nothing else but it will be much better if you can separate your services onto different servers.

@TomHD We are currently doing the same thing. I have built a DC hosting DHCP and DNS, an SCCM server and a file server all on VMware on one host so I could utilise the local network and create a completely separate network to the RM one which is currently running in production. We are looking at creating a new VLAN soon for the new network so we can begin build testing on some of our existing hardware which we have on site but still keep it separate. I would advise getting stuck into SCCM as soon as possible because it can be quite a learning curve if you have not used it before but it well worth the time and effort in the long run.
