Santa List - Crimbo 2014

So hustle and bustle through the shopping centre on Sunday, have finally got most presents sorted for the family and my Girlfriend... As I was looking down at my wallet which was getting smaller and smaller, I stopped and realised hold on I get stuff at Christmas too *The geek deep within went wild with joy*

 

Although what do I want.... What do I need.... I really don't know. A UPS for the home server is a must but what else, is Christmas going to be just one UPS

 

So lets help each other out and be a bit selfish for once what's going on your list to Santa this year?

Parents offered to buy the Hudl2 i mentioned that i bought in the black friday/cyber monday thread. Only condition is i now have to wait until xmas to use it. Worth it. I'd also *like* a ps4, but i know there's not much chance of that happening (saving to get a house deposit etcetc). The better half has also said the "You can buy it if you want too" But i'm not falling for that trap!

Im gonna get myself an Xbox One in the sales so hopefully can get some games for Christmas xD

I've already got two 22" HD monitors on my list. Also a TV Card for my computer so I can get rid of my TV as I won't have any space with my new monitors.

 

Now just need a gaming keyboard and a decent chair as my Rover one is getting a bit battered and then I'm happy. But don't think I will get the extra two bits as well

 

Other than that I would just want some WOW time and some Steam gift cards.

I don't usually get gifts from anyone other than best friends unless I'm in a Secret Santa because of family issues. No gift from family in years.

If I see a sale, I'm going to get an SSD for my new laptop that my best friend got me. But I'm using pretty much all of my spare money otherwise on gifts.

 

In the Amazon sales I bought two portable powerbanks and I'm giving one to my friend I ride motorcycles with because we always find we run out of battery when we use our phones as sat navs!

I can't top the laptop as a gift but I'm trying to meet how happy it made me by buying my best friend a bunch of nerf guns!

We're going to knock a wall down Seriously. We want to knock our kitchen and dining room together, so the presents will be token and the money going to builders next year!

I'm too old to do "stuff" anymore - don't want it cluttering up my life.

Family time is what I want - and with the children all off living their own lives, it is increasingly rare and all the more precious for that.

My family doesn't do expensive Xmas presents, that's all saved for birthdays.

 

Not sure what id like but it will only be small useful present.

 

However in the January sales I'll probably be buying myself an Xbox One and tv or a nexus 6.

Agreed. One of the best Xmas' we ever had was when a bunch of us did a £1 challenge. No present costing more than a quid, wrapped in newspaper. People got quite inventive (& no, it wasn't all from Poundland). Back on topic, I guess some snow would be nice, cos the dogs love it. Other than that I've pretty much got what I want already.

Normally split time between mum and dad, the former cares far more than the other but I've no idea what to get her. Surprising my dad this year with Ashes tickets for the 5th test, they were not cheap at £80 a pop but hey ho.

 

Can't think of much I'd like/need urgently, maybe some Lego.

Other than that, to be honest there isn't much I need/want, I'm much happier buying presents for the our little boy (2nd Christmas, he's already very excited at the christmas lights we see as we're driving round). I don't like the giving of money or vouchers, but this year I have a genuine need for it. Having lost over 5 stone in the last 12 months I am in desperate need of new clothes as I've dropped between 3 and 4 clothes sizes and most of my existing clothes are simply huge on me!

My Missus and I are getting a 'house present' to ourselves of one of the big Lego City Arctic sets. I'm getting her loads of little things and a service for her push bike. She's getting me a bit more lego and some other stuff I don't know about.

 

We are both most excited about our secret santas... We've both got work-do secret santa's set at a fiver and we both think we've bought genius gifts! We also have a friendship group secret santa set at a pound which usually involves a truly shocking film - like 2 headed shark attack - from poundland!

Wouldn't mind an i7 to finally upgrade my heavily oc'd i5! but it'll have to wait a few months.. bought the parents a laptop and the girlfriend a whole range of stuff. I'll treat myself to a takeaway and be my own Santa.

I've actually had the money to buy presents for people this year (including my work colleagues, as they've put up with me for 3 years, they ought to have something to show for it ), which feels really nice to do for a change, as for the longest time I've been too broke or had too many bills to make Christmas a viable thing... The thing is, I don't really know what I want for Christmas, nor care if I get anything. I'm just not really fussed. I haven't been that fussed about Christmas (or birthdays) for almost a decade, if truth be told.

 

I have looked at the Hudl2 but I'm not sure if I'll get one.. I don't use my Hudl1 enough, but is that because it's getting a bit slow and sluggish now, or because I don't have much use for a tablet in general? @Tesla, how would you rate it in comparison?

 

I think the only thing I really want is to hurry up with getting these tattoos lasered off (if only so I can get new ones instead ) and that'll take a good few months yet (and also cost a fair bit at £80 a session..)

Not sure what thread i mentioned it in, but it's now an xmas pressie off my rents, so i have to wait until xmas to open it. lol. specs are generally very good. the tesco menu is apparently sluggish but you can disable it. and battery life is quite bad apparently, but for the price its worth the punt.

Ah, my bad. Yeah the first thing I did was disable the Tesco app on my Hudl1, so the [ T ] icon is still there but pressing it does literally nothing. Battery life wasn't anything fantastic on the Hudl1 either. I use it as my alarm clock, and leaving it idling overnight kills 10% of the battery, but I usually charge it every few days so it's not bad.

Finished the last of my christmas shopping this weekend, just had to buy a few baby clothes and a voucher for someone, done the rest of it weeks ago (had a hard time last year still paying it off now so start months ago this year).

As for being selfish, just getting a few ps4 games, looking into getting hooked up to the net at home (finally, seems like I have been offline for years), nothing overly geekly, few marvel films on dvd.....

 

bought my son a trampoline, think I'm looking forward to that more than anything that I am getting myself haha.

I let the wife take care of xmas shopping as she enjoys it and i'm the grinch. I really hate getting cheap tat for xmas, I know someone spent time and effort getting it, but i'd rather they'd not and saved the money.

 

Me and the wife have a thing that i pick out and buy my xmas pressie and she picks out and buys her's. We get excately what we want and there's no disappointment in what we got (it also tends to be a bigger purchase), also as were buying the gifts (for ourselves) we don't have to wait till xmas. So I got mine on Saturday a nice shiney lenovo thinkpad yoga 14. Only to not really be able to play on sunday due to lack of internet, doh!
