Double blue Ticks in WhatsApp

For those who do not know yet here is why:

If you read from the notifications/widget on android it doesn't seem to turn them blue. Only when you actually open the app full screen.

 

Wouldn't be surprised to see them add a way to disable it!

That was the first thing I thought too. I can just imagine it now....... "I sent you a message at this time and you read it at this time and you did not reply!!!"

Well I still have some double grey showing on messages i sent to the Mrs and she obviously read the messages coz she responded to them. So the blue ticks work well then (not) !!

Maybe you should have less needy/demanding friends.. Or just be honest and say "Because I was busy." "Because I was in a bad mood and didn't feel like it." "Because the only time you ever message me is asking if I'm going out drinking and I can't be bothered with a so-called 'friendship' that's based solely on alcohol." etc

We are both on iOS 8.1

This feature has always been implemented anyway. You could see the 'Last Seen' date and time of the recipient. This would then give you an indication of when the person has read your message. For example I sent message X at Y time and they where last seen at Z time.

'Last seen' was never an indication they had read ur message. Only when the last used the service.

Last seen isn't accurate anyway, my girlfriend sent me a picture this morning which i responded too, her last seen said she was on at about 10pm last night.

None of mine have blue ticks when I know they have been read as I have got a reply under them!

I've never had blue ticks, just the single/double grey on iOS.

My mate mentioned this when I popped around earlier, both went through our old messages no blue double tick, send a test to each other and there it was a double blue tick.

I thought this was obvious anyway, as you can see if they're online or not when the second tick appears, and it appears regardless. Or am I just a genius?

People have started sending round a nonsensical thing saying "your account will be locked and you'll have to pay £25 to unlock it unless you forward this on to 10 people. Once you have, the ticks will turn blue!" or similar on there. Why do idiots believe this stuff?!

This is no different to what facebook does anyway.

 

Or the Kik messenger service.

the ticks also work on group messages now you go into the info on the message and it tells you whos read it snazzy no more hiding from people in groups
