mowgli82 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 @aleach2 Thank you!! All taken at Deal in Kent with a Nikon D610, Nikon 24-70 f2.8 and Tiffen Variable ND filter and Tripod. The boat was without the Tripod and Variable ND. Tweaked in Lightroom CC. It was really windy under the pier, struggled to stop my camera blowing over on the tripod. 1

Came across some free-range ponies (apparently it was a stupid question to ask if they produced free-range eggs). Grabbed a couple of snaps on my phone as didn't have my DSLR with me.

I've been trying astrophotography off and on (had to take a break this winter due to a total lack of viable sky die to cloud cover since November! Equipment was.. Canon 70D Canon 55-250mm IS STM @ 250mm ISO800 77 Second Exposure. iOptron SkyTracker V2 The SkyTracker is what made it work, it mounts on to a tripod and the camera attaches to it. It rotates with the earth to counter the trailing of stars on long exposures. Without it there would be massive star trails. I am actually just starting out with Astrophotography myself so learning lots everytime I go outside, although tonight it only took 10 minutes for the clouds to come This is tonights result on a Tamron 150-600mm Lens: M42 - Orion Nebula (Attempt #2) by Steve McMillan, on Flickr The alignment wasn't perfect and probably had the ISO up too much as the center looks overexposed. Hopefully I'll be going down the route of taking multiple images and stacking them together. 3

Same here, I've been saving for a while for it, if you already have a ball head on a tripod you can buy it without the ball head for around £290. I've only actually had it a week, looking forward to more clear skies.. can't wait to start taking multiple images and stacking them. Like pcstru mentioned there are other types of mounts you can get as well as some DIY ones. Not sure how good they are, the iOptron comes with a polar scope and mobile app so you can easily align it with polaris.
