Well yes in this situation that would indeed be true. The seventh principle states "appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data", and the ICO guidance states that "Devices should not leave your organisation before you have established who is responsible for deleting the personal data contained on them". Guide I'm quoting from can be found here: https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisations/documents/1570/it_asset_disposal_for_organisations.pdf Our data destruction service is free - the main reason we do this is to protect the organisations that work with us (and ourselves, for that matter). We have the accreditations, the facilities and the resource to ensure data security and complete destruction. This is the case with many of our peers too.

While that might be true, many IT recycling companies (including ourselves) handle data destruction as a standard part of their recycling service. We would also always advise against handling data destruction yourself, as ITAD companies (again including ourselves) use specialist data wiping software which destroys beyond recovery, and holds the relevant accreditations to be able to handle data securely. And if for whatever reason we can't fully wipe the hard drive, or it's not reusable, we physically destroy it using our industrial shredder. This isn't entirely correct - if you send devices holding sensitive data to a third party for data disposal/recycling without doing so under a formal contract or have not ensured they are qualified or competent to carry this out, you will be in breach of GDPR. It is not illegal under GDPR to contract out your data disposal requirements, nor is it in breach of the DPA.

@browolf it certainly does. Under GDPR if you do not have a formal contract or SLA with your IT recycling partner, you will be liable in the event of data breach, and be subject to a fine.

@lmgtfy - I've just run your query past our technician, his response: They can take up to 2 drive failures, the rebuild times are normally a few hours but it is highly dependent on load/amount of data. Thanks @fiza ! @swiftysw1 - on our @ccessAbility programme, devices are covered by 2 year accidental damage and theft. You choose the devices you want to be made available to students, we'll then help you market the scheme to parents and they'll be able to choose from your selected range of devices on dedicated ordering portal. The parents then pay monthly for the device and it's their's at the end of the term at no extra cost. We handle all the admin for you too. Borderlands 2 - doesn't really tick the puzzle box but does have co-op mode. Not sure if she's into FPS, I'm definitely not but enjoy playing Borderlands.

They certainly do... It was a welcome upgrade from the pretty substandard camera on the Nexus 5!

A couple from the weekend just gone... took a spontaneous trip down to Bristol, and stopped by Clevedon to see the sea on the way home. Didn't take my camera so these are from my Nexus 5X.

Very true - and you are required to pass a test and get an Apparition licence.

You can't Apparate ("teleport") until you're 17. Fred and George do it quite frequently in Order of the Phoenix, as they're of age. But that's why you don't see a lot of the other kids doing it.

Yes, we can auto-enroll retrospective devices into DEP at no extra charge. If the you are able to supply us with an inventory (including serial numbers), as well as your DEP ID - we can get these uploaded into DEP.

Hi @Allie, just wanted to clear something up from your post - we do in fact offer DEP and have been doing so for many universities. Could I ask where you heard that we didn't as it would be good for me to let them know?
