Hi all

can any of you folk recommend a particular VGA splitter? from what i've seen on amazon reviews can be a bit hit and miss... (whether or not it's the equipment itself or the user's incompetence remains to be seen)

Cheers

We found some splitter cables to have ghosting at higher resolutions , would be cheaper to get splitter cable but we use ours with 20m VGA for dual setup on halls so powered option for us just means we get that little boost on the signal

May try an unpowered one first see if i have any luck, we may need a few of these soon so going to the BM with a much cheaper quote if possible would be good (in an ideal world!)

un powered can cause signal loss and are a pain with certain tft screens.

powered ones we use are made by Aten and we get them from CPC @ 29.00 each, plug in and forget.

If you're looking for high quality images get a powered splitter as the unpowered ones can give you a dull image.

Nice try Dave, but they are for old RM one machines so wont fit :p

I think ima take a gamble on the unpowered splitter first, then if they dont work particularly well, i will probably buy the startech usb that many people have mentioned. cheers people :)

The Y cable unpowered splitters are utter, utter crap. We use the startech USB powered ones, they work wonderfully without taking up a power socket. Certainly good enough for full HD without ghosting or other problems.

what not use vga to projector, and dvi to monitor, i got rid of all the old splitters we had by using this method. every classroom here now has the same setup. Also has the benefit of setting up a dual display for the classroom, so kids cant see what the teacher is working on, only what is being projected onto the board.

We had this problem as well, so ended up using both the HDMI to feed the monitor and the VGA socket to feed the projector.

The item i bought worked, which was an unpowered splitter, going to a ceiling mounted projector

note : this isn't the set up, this was just a test before I put it in their room. chuffed that it worked, as the way the last few weeks have gone I would have expected it to fail.
